What time is it? Wait. What day is it?

Oh yeah. Got a matinee and evening show today, with at least a nice catered meal betwixt and between.

A couple of hiccups, mostly technical, but last night was probably the best opening night they’ve ever had. The book is no great shakes, but the score is great fun and with a good cast and production it’s one heckuva crowd pleaser.

I am glad your evening went well.   May you have an equally good day.

Nice light DR GEORGE.

Penzy's?  I think I'm getting fancy when I buy the Italian Seasoning in a jar from Dollar Tree.

TOD:

I was in the 8th grade....when we came back from our lunch break, our history teacher Mr. Marksbary gave us a reading assignment and left the room.  The next period we went to English class....our teacher Mrs. Stuck was late arriving.....she left again....and came back crying.  We went to Science Class.  A fellow student Karla Doty raised her hand and said "Someone said the President was shot."  The teacher Mr. Alexander said "There will be an announcement."

Mr Boyd the principal came on the intercom and confirmed that President Kennedy had been shot and was dead...LBJ was the new president....  We were told to go to our busses and the walking kids were told to go home.

We didn't hear about MLK until the end of the day.....it was my senior year.  Later that summer, my mother woke me up and said "Kennedy was shot..."  I said "We know all about that..."  And she said "No, Bobby Kennedy...."

None of the events or their aftermaths seemed to be real....

Gail said last week, that she had history the period after our class, and Mr. Marksbary didn't say anything about what was happening, but that he read the poem "Oh, Captain, My Captain" to the class....

TOD:  I was in 3rd grade when JFK was assassinated.   Monsignor Toomey came on the intercom in each classroom and announced it and then we said the rosary.    I think I was watching TV when it was announced that MLK was shot.  I don't remember so much about RFK.

Saturday morning greetings!  Mary Linda is busy in our kitchen baking the cake for great nephew J's 3rd birthday party tomorrow.  I told her we'd stay out of her way to the best of our ability.

TOD - I was in junior high when JFK died and have similar memories of teachers in tears.  MLK and RFK were during my senior year of high school.  In April 1968 (MLK), Detroit was still reeling from devastating race riots the previous summer and some violence broke out that spring.  I remember my Dad waking me up for school with the news about RFK.

T.O.D.

JFK: I was in Hollywood, getting in my car just off Hwd. Blvd.; on the way to the first day of my first job since moving to Los Angeles.  A woman said to me, "The President has been shot!".

MLK: Absolutely no memory of where I was when I heard about this.

RK: I read it in the morning paper.  We had been listening to the election returns, but had gone to bed early before it happened.

I am pleased to announce that my play, BRODERICK CRAWFORD, is now available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions. (The 2 editions probably won't be "married" on Amazon for about 24 hours, so if you want the Kindle, you'll have to look it up separately.)

BRODERICK CRAWFORD is a 3 character play. Aside from Brod, who was a personal friend, the other 2 characters are the spirits of his parents, vaudevillians Lester Crawford and Helen Broderick.

Broderick Crawford is certainly best remembered for his Oscar-winning performance in ALL THE KING'S MEN, BORN YESTERDAY and his hit TV series, HIGHWAY PATROL.

Performance rights are available.

Is it made by Honeywell & Todd?  Vern Albright, Margie's father worked there.

, and then I'll leave from there to go with my friend Margo to see the new Avengers movie!

A FB friend in So. California went last night.  They pre-purchased the tickets and still had a 40 minute wait in line.  They were let inside the theater 30 minutes before the movie began.

Margo said that she'd buy the tickets either yesterday or early today, and since they're all assigned seats, we can get there whenever we want.

Well, I need to get ready for my day.  Neve is sitting next to me, staring at me, waiting for me to feed her...so, feed her I must.

Until later.

Assigned seats is the best way to see the movie with the crowds.   BTW, my friend said it was amazing.

Ninth grade, Jr. High senior class photo day was a bit depressing as we all tried to put some cheer into it.  I wish our school had sent us home early on that sad November day.

I had been working in the gym office talking to my favorite teacher whom I worked for.  The other student in the office came in from a dental appointment and told us Kennedy had been shot.  Our first reaction was disbelief, and then the PA system came on with the news.

In June of 1968 I was living in an apartment behind Hamilton High, Keith was still living at his parent's house across the street from Hami.

We had spent the day campaigning for Eugene McCarthy with friends and then went to the campaign rally.  Even though McCarthy had lost to Kennedy I still felt happy as I was leaning more and more towards Kennedy and either candidate was fine with me.

The first thing I did when Keith dropped me off at my place was turn on the tv to watch Kennedy's acceptance speech.  You know how that went.

Sadly the day King was shot is not as memorable.  I must have been at work and not heard the news until later.  I think too as sad as it was, it was not all that surprising.
