There was a period this morning, before I spent 45 minutes on the phone with my HMO, where this site was down.  Anyone else have a problem?

Yep. I got an error message that referred to the database, that seemed specific to this site. Kritzerland was accessible, but not HHW.

We visted a couple of Bernese Mountain Dogs today. Now we are stuck in traffice trying to get back to the hotel. We need to roll the fur off of our clothes and freshen up before walking over to Bryan’s a bit later than expected.

I'm up, I'm up - got up at noon o'clock after nine hours of sleep with some mighty weird dreams.

I've done a lot of signings and a couple have been as elmore described save for the fact that I've always sold at least one book.  But I remember being in a Barnes and Noble when Harlan Ellison was doing a signing - I didn't know he was going to be there, and he sold not one book nor did anyone stop by to talk to him.

Rehearsal doesn't begin till four.  Guess I'll go to the mail place and maybe eat prior since we're not going to finish until six-thirty.

I've seen it happen, too. An author friend (Stacy Horn, the one whose Roosevelt Island book was just published) came to Danbury for a signing in Borders (RIP) on a busy Saturday afternoon, and sold one (1) book -- and that was to a friend of ours. (We'd bought our copies earlier.)

Oh man, this painting process takes forever, notably when the painter isn't just doing our couple of rooms, he's got other jobs to juggle. He just primed the bedroom, which looks great in a surreal stark white kind of way, and he's about to do the bathroom ceiling. But I think that's all today.

I don't think I said what we're having done. In addition to the bedroom that got trashed and rebuilt, we're doing Kristi and Nathan's adjacent bathroom. Only one little corner was necessary, but everyone was ready to see the whole thing redone. And because of another very small amount of patch work that had to be done in the kitchen, he has to paint quite a bit of that because of the continuous surfaces.

This guy is good. But geez.

So, it never ends. And my saying "it never ends" never ends.

Back from chicken tenders (TEENY) and a side Caesar salad with so much dressing I had to send it back - those who know me know I'm all about the dressing, but this I couldn't even see the lettuce.

Picked up some packages and am now home waiting for rehearsal to begin in about twenty minutes.  Listening to Stan Getz's Voices - him in a quartet setting with Claus Ogerman-arranged voices - beautiful.

Before that it was Getz and Legrand, Communications 72 - had no idea the Swingle Singers are throughout, uncredited.

That reminds me of a funny quote that someone posted on a tumblr account that I follow:

"Salad Dressing" sounds a lot more elegant than "Lettuce Sauce".

I am so goddamned pissed.  I started running water for a bath, Randy called me about an offer on the property,  we started talking, and I flooded the bathroom again.  Val's angry, the neighbors below me are unhappy, I have a mess on my hands, and I am ready to kill.

Wait, what, an offer on the property?

What a shame, he is so much fun.  He used to come every other tear to a convention we attended here and he was always the highlight of the weekend
