Listening to Michael Franks with orchestrations by Claus Ogerman.  I was surprised when the first song came on that I knew it well.

I just learned that we had a solar eclipse on July 12 and a lunar eclipse is due tomorrow. We also started a new Mercury retrograde today. I expect that has been why there's been such weirdness.

But I must.  I'm off to my sister's to move a couch from her backyard (yes, it's been outside for quite a while) to the front.  She's getting it reupholstered and the movers are coming tomorrow, so it needs to be ready before the morning.

Be back later.

Oh, I see that's not actually your couch being moved.

Listening to music since then.  Right now it's a fun album with Mel Torme and Margaret Whiting singing songs from Broadway's 1960 season - so we get Wildcat, Do Re Mi, Camelot, and Irma la Douce.  Great charts by Russell Garcia in faboo stereo.

That sounds great.

It was a touring production of a black comedy drama about a marriage that's falling apart. Little promotion meant the house was only full with about 400 people. But they were boisterous and really into it. They even booed the guy who played the soon-to-be ex-husband.

what was weird about it was that a scene would be going along and all of a sudden, one of the minor characters would burst into song. Yet this was not a musical. And at the end, as a minor character sang the last song, the playwright came out and introduced herself.

Watching Nickelodeon for the first time in at least 20 years. Bogdanovich recycles too much that worked in movies before. There's a lengthy bit about swapped suitcases straight from What's Up, Doc? and a scene with Tatum O'Neal out of Paper Moon.

There's also some historical puns that don't work, such as the scene in which Leo and Frank are introduced to each other. And in case you didn't get it, Leo Frank is pronounced together. I'm waiting for a Mary and a Phelan to show up.

Back from a very humid rehearsal.

Yes. Humid. Did I mention that this ANNIE is at an outdoor venue, for which the term ‘rustic’ might over-describe the conditions?

I just spoke to my brother Randy.  The Macbeths are in an uproar.  The Real Housewives of Orange County is now running on Bravo and my dumbass niece Emily told viewers last week that she grew up poor with subsidies, not a word that her father was president of a company and her mother's family on both sides were two of Middletown's first families and loaded.

I've never seen this show. But after I saw this post I went to Slice (Canadian channel that airs The Real Housewives) to look at Emily's bio. Right under it was this week's show. They put each Housewife's name up every time she has a segment. So I watched a few minutes of her part of the show. OMG!  She is at a fancy anniversary dinner with her husband Shane. And they are arguing because she wants to have another baby and he doesn't. She said that she is an attorney and that he comes from money. And I think that she said that her parents were divorced.

And that her sister Sara was a surrogate mother to her 3 children.  Shane has a total of 5 children and they were arguing because she wants more?

DR elmore you have us curious now ;)

Had a fun rehearsal with Kay, then lunched with the stage manager of the Sherman show to thank him for his great work.  But Jerry's may be done for me - we each had a grilled cheese sandwich - for his side that comes with it he had fries and I had the little Caesar.  We each had a Diet Coke.  Total cost with tip?  $48.  I mean that is obscene and I'm done.

I would be happy never to eat there again because I think the food/bread is terrible.

Somehow a damn fly got in the house.  It's only flown by me about four times and I haven't been quick enough to end its sorry little life.  But when it's not flying by I cannot figure out where the damn thing's gone.

They are sneaky lime that.  Keith is an expert at catching them and releasing them outside.

Listening to the faboo Phase 4 recording of Annie Get Your Gun, my favorite Annie on record - I love Merman on this recording, the supporting cast is fun, and the Stanley Black orchestra sounds incredible on this album.  I'd love to get my hands on the original album masters just to hear them - it sounds like this could even be better with a mastering engineer who was tops.

One of my favorite English cast albums of an English show is Passion Flower Hotel, a book and musical that no one today would touch with a ten-foot pole - too bad that, but that's the world now.  Puritanism in all its ugly glory.
