George U. from South Beach drove up last night and we had a very nice date. We have dated off and on in the past, and it is always nice to see him, and he is the only guy I have ever dated who doesn’t mind watching my old B-rate movies! In fact he enjoys them (I have not sprung the Bollywood movies on him as of yet, however...but he knows of my interest in them and it hasn’t scared him off! LOL!).

We had dinner at a Japanese place and then went to the Elsinore Theatre where they were showing some Charlie Chaplin movies. It was a very nice evening.

I didn't know, Dear Reader/Dear Brother Stuart, that you were within the range of Sy's voice.

We're on Marcy's frequency.  (Ironically enough, they don't advertise on electronic media here, and I can't say that I recall seeing print ads, either...so, truly, an educated consumer is their best customer.)

But yes, Rochester does play host to a Syms.  And it is less than two miles from our house, across the street from our local Wegmans.*  (Not the one that impressed you so, but certainly more luxe than the Key Food on Flatbush Avenue!)

My imaginary dinner party:

Ms. Hee-uh
Carol Channing
Kudo-head
The Giant Green Blob
Lucky the Leprechaun

We'd all go to Chuck E. Cheese or something. That would be quite a shin-dig.

I hope your ankle is doing better, Rodzinski.

I'm going to go find some food and a really big Cherry Coke, and then enjoy my last few minutes of freedom before (cue ominous music) Rhetoric class.

This site has been the best thing for my ankle. Thanks again, all, for your kind vibage.

Good news on the horizon. My brother, who was with his National Guard unit in Iraq for 18 months has left that country. He left at 5:45 this morning and he's in Kuwait right now waiting for a flight to the states. He should be in Wisconsin for debriefing sometime tomorrow and then by the end of next week he will be home with his family in Minnesota.

Most excellent news indeed DR Ben...

LOL-you are so cute. ;D

DRJane, and you wonder why I love you! :-*

DRRodzinski, are you aware of the BIG March 19 gathering of Hainsie/Kimmlets at DRPennyO's show JEWISH THIGHS ON BROADWAY?  Partay after.  I'm unsure how many are showing beyond my original tally, but I'm hoping more will decide to trek in for the festivities.

DRBen, this is fantastic news about your brother.  I hope his return is swift and safe.

Dear Friend BK, the problem besides my hangup over my former employer is my B&N day.  I may also be caught up in my Easy Coast host duties with arriving folk.  What if DRGinny needs a sherpa?  When is DRDanise arriving?

Here's the real question:  Although I know it's not as optimal as Saturday afternoon, how many of you East Coasters would be able to attend a reading/signing on Friday the 18th of March, the eve before PennyO's show?  It would take place probably between 5-7 at The Drama Bookshop.  I know elmore won't go there (and I don't blame him), but I don't want to book it if I can't fill it.

I am sorry to say that my DH and I would not be able to get in for both a Friday night reading  and for Penny's  Saturday show, such are the realities of having a child in need of a babysitter...., plus I would never be able to get in that early on a workday

TOD:   There are so many people who it might be fun to dine with and converse and laughand learn.

The people who immediately come to mind are:  Fred Astaire, Gypsy Rose Lee, Natalie Wood,  and Hermes Pan.

.  Actually, Harlan called me up the other day and said we must get together.

Would you mind finding something out for me,  DR CP?  Harlan usually comes out to Long Island every other year to attend a "SciFi Convention" at Stony Brook University. We make it a point to attend whenever he is going to be there as it is so much fun listening to him talk.  I have not seen any news that he will be there this year, do you know if he  plans to ?  I know the last time he came out he was grumbling that he was " getting too old for this..." but we were hoping he had changed his mind in the intervening time.....the tickets have just gone on sale and if he won't be there we may not bother going.... Thanks!!

Good Afternoon!

It's snowing!

-Just as soon as I heard the announcement on the radio about a Winter Storm Watch being issued, I looked outside and I saw the snowflakes falling.  It's been falling for about two hours right now.  Looks quite beautiful outside.  I'll need to take pictures with my "old" digital camera.

As for my "new" digital camera...  We shall see.  With the snow, I may not make it over to the store before show time.  Also, my "new digital camera jones" has started to die down, so...  And I actually need to look at some more software for my new iBook, so...

...We're only supposed to get about an inch of snow.  Hopefully, rush hour drivers will not be typical rush hour drivers today.

Of course - any get together of H/K would be hard to put a limit of five upon.  But the restaurant would have to be open LATE.

DR JRand - Well, the digital camera almost-purchase yesterday was something so spur of the moment, so I wasn't really that upset about it.  Also, after reading some reviews on the web last night about the camera, the camera I was looking at might not be the ideal camera for me.  Now I'm leaning toward a Canon model.

If I do make it back to the store in the next few days... We shall see...

MBARNUM did you know there is a DVD of two of Reg Park's Hercules movies?

I'd be surprised if DRMBarnum didn't have a set in every room of his house.

I see Michael Jackson continues to plead his case outside the courtroom,  If he's found guilty, does the title change to Queen of Pop?

Dinner guests:  Robert Russell Bennett, Hershy Kay, Philip J Lang, Don Walker, and Eddie Sauter

.  Oh, God, I'm ooooold!

I was once at  a "lingerie party" (like a tupperware party except that afterwards the hubby is interested in seeing what you purchased! LOL)  and the hostess us showing  a garter belt...a younger woman in the room wanted to know "What are those  things  hanging down?" I explained that they were for holding up the stockings, "You know, like we used before they invented pantyhose"  you looked at me in utter shock and said "You're older than pantyhose?!"

Oh I see that STRANGERS WHEN WE MEET is on DVD.  Kim Novak is so beautiful in that film.  She is the most beautiful suburban mother EVER!  And Ernie Kovacs is very good as well.  And the house they build is spectacular.

Kirk Douglas is an architect - doncha know......I know....I know.....

LOL DR CP - "phonograph."

A couple of seasons ago when I was doing sound design for a production of GREASE, I brought in an old record player - the kind with the 45 RPM spindle that you put a half dozen or so records on.  The kids were using it in a couple of the scenes.  They didn't know how to put the records on it.  I looked at it backstage one evening and it was all backwards.....the records were put on top of the "holding arm."

I felt as though I were in the City on the Edge of Forever....

Hmmmm....the Collector's Choice DVD catalog describes it thusly:

Hercules The Avenger/Hercules and the Black Pirate.  A pair of titan-sized adventures starring the legendary Reg Park as Hercules.  The son of Zeus must battle the servants of the underworld to rescue his kidnapped son in Hercules the Avenger, then he must battle rogues and pirates to survive in a strange land -- the future -- in Hercules and the Black Pirate.  1965/170 minutes/color
