That is good news, Ben!

td: Great list. Took a real chance recommending The Apple to somebody. I actually found the soundtrack LP recently. What insanity! Ditto for Can't Stop the Music. Just mind-bending!

For me and musicals, my advice is 30s, 30s, 30s. The original 42nd Street, and any and all of the Golddiggers films.

But for more modern fare, a lost classic to me is Shock Treatment, though I may be the only one who loves it.

Sorry to read, DR Rodzinski, about your sprained ankle. Hope it doesn't cause too much of an inconvenience.

Was sad to read about the cancellation of STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE. I have enjoyed the show, and I felt this year the series had really found its bearings and was becoming outstanding. Very similar to my feelings about the cancellation of ANGEL this time last season.

When the camera got rung up, it came up $379.  What?!?!?  Even the salesman was confused since he was the one who pulled it from stock for me.  He went back to the display, and came back with the shelf tag which clearly stated $179.  But after looking at the tag a bit more closely, he realized that that price was a "Manager's Special" which means it was for that model, the display model...

Now if DR Jennifer was shopping with me...

If DR Jennifer was shopping with you she would demanded they honor the $179 price (since that is what the salesman told you it was, right?)

We have a cold, damp, dreary day here. It's raining right now, but the predictions are that it's going to turn to snow later on today. That almost never happens here, so the day should prove interesting weather-wise.

I have also been thinking all day today that it's Friday. I woke up thinking it was Friday. When I finished with the newspaper, I wondered why the Friday entertainment section was missing. Even reading bk's notes proclaiming it to be Thursday didn't alter my mind-set that today is Friday.

The Dinner Guest question is a confusing one for me.  OK, maybe not confusing, but difficult.

On the one hand, I would like to have dinner with my grandparents. (My grandfathers were gone by the time I was born, and neither of my grandmothers were in particularly good shape by the time I was cognizant.)

On another hand, I would like to have dinner with Oscar Wilde, Billy Haines and some of the people that were at Stonewall.  Just to see what they think of how things have been turning out....

On the other hand, a diva dinner would be too much of good opportunity to pass up.   (My brother will probably chime in here that while playing 20 Questions walking to and from temple with my family on the high holidays, I was notorious for my Dead Female Entertainer category.)  Ethel and Mary (oooh, a BELLS ARE RINGING reference), certainly Angela, and probably Gwen and Chita.

Inge, Miller, Williams, Simon and......hmmmm......Mart Crowley?

Sondheim, Styne, Laurents, Prince and M. Bennett.

From politics:  John Adams, Abe Lincoln, FDR and his Mrs., and Jack Kennedy.  ( i would be curious -- but scared -- to dine with Joe McCarthy.)

World History:  Moses (How DID you feel, not being let into the Promised Land??), Michelangelo (How many times has someone said 'Can I get a second coat?' to you?), DaVinci, Gutenberg, Ben Franklin.

I think that's it for now.....

DR RODZINSKI....ah yes THE APPLE.  A soundtrack album?  Was it damaged, you know of course that the opening day audience at the Egyptian Theatre tossed their complimentary copies of said LP at the screen about 15 minutes into the movie.....  As for SHOCK TREATMENT - I also am very fond of that movie.  I have the soundtrack LP and CD - love the arrangements.  And nice avatar, BTW.

DR HISAKA is correct of course....time goes to the past.  Sad to say.

Well DR CP regularly has dinner with a couple of my choices Harlan Ellison and June Wilkinson - so I won't list them, except to say I would be so busy listening I couldn't eat.....much.

So my list may be a bit predictable, but here goes:

Allison Hayes
Frances Farmer
Ayn Rand
Lucille Ball
Stephen Sondheim

Of course I imagine that Frances would also have to have dinner with DR JMK, but she could just hop in the 1958 Edsel she got on THIS IS YOUR LIFE and drive on over to my house.

DR RON what did you think of PROJECT RUNWAY last night?  The three finalists are showing their lines on Friday during New York's Fashion Week, but they aren't listed by name on the site.  My guess is that Wendy drew the line on her daughter's picture herself.

William Inge - as DR STUART wrote - what an interesting dinner companion he would be.....hmmmmmm.....I may have to go for a brunch with a few more.

As long as the liquor cabinet was locked!

(The same goes for Judy, if she were to be invited to my diva dinner.  But she may have to be saved for Mother/Daughter dinner:  Judy, Liza, Lorna, Lucy, Lucie.)

I'd definitely think about Elizabeth I as a dinner guest. Let's make it an all-English affair and also invite Agatha Christie and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, too.

NNOOOOOO!!! :'( I really like this show. So, for the topic of the day, in honor (memory?) of the Star Trek franchise, I'd like to dine with the captains of the various Enterprises:  Pike, Kirk, Picard, Archer and the woman of the Enterprise C from the one episode of the Next Generation when they brought back Denise Crosby as Tasha Yar's half Romulan daughter. ::)

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!

I did make it up and out of bed before Noon.  But just barely.  I've been taking care of some bills and such, and I must shortly head downstairs, push play on the DVD player, and proceed to work up a sweat.

Hmmm.... That surely sounds most unseemly. DR TCB?

-Hey, where is DR TCB?

Vernal Equinox - that's the title of my next novel.

Okay, here's the question: RASPBERRY?

Here's the real question:  Although I know it's not as optimal as Saturday afternoon, how many of you East Coasters would be able to attend a reading/signing on Friday the 18th of March, the eve before PennyO's show?  It would take place probably between 5-7 at The Drama Bookshop.  I know elmore won't go there (and I don't blame him), but I don't want to book it if I can't fill it.

Oh, trust me, JRand54, if Harlan was your dinner guest, you'd have nothing to do but eat.  You'd certainly be hard put to get a word in edgewise.  Actually, Harlan called me up the other day and said we must get together.  He just received a huge cache of  '78 records he wants me to hear.  So we'll either do it at his place...or he'll tote them over to mine to play on my old crank Victrola.

Speaking of Victrolas, I heard a guy on a British antique show the other day, explaining to someone, thusly, "Now this is called a phonograph."  I guess we now live in a world where some people actually don't know what a phonograph is anymore.  Oh, God, I'm ooooold!

Actually, Jose,  House of Pies is not really Silverlake...just Los Feliz.

DR Pogue - I know that House of Pies is in Los Feliz.  You know that House of Pies is in Loz Feliz.  Even BK knows that House of Pies is in Los Feliz.  Heck, I even bet that the House of Pies knows that it is in Los Feliz.  But, for some strange reason, the LA Tourism site I cut and pasted the location and operating hours from has it listed in Silver Lake - which is further down the street and a little to the left, IIRC.

bk - The flight I'm looking at (and am about to book) is scheduled to arrive at LGA at 5:07pm Friday.  It would be a miracle if I'd be able to make it to Drama Book Shop for a 5-7pm event.

DR Ben - As for Good Vibrations...  Well, it is nice to see that Tituss has gotten mentioned in some of the reviews.  Who knows, maybe he'll snag a Tony nomination?!? -Stranger things have happened.  Could be sort of another Heather Headley thing.

Btw, have any other DRs seen some of the reviews of Anyone Can Whistle currently playing in Philly at the Prince Music Theater?  Yikes!

Loved your shopping story yesterday DRJOSE.....happens to me sometimes, too....and I am not quite so polite.  Of course, I am not usually on the schedule you were on.

LOL...DR CP re: Harlan.  Well.....ASK him what he thought of Bracken's World....he never really reviewed it, but kept threatening to in the columns reprinted in THE GLASS TEAT.  Listening to him would be fine as well....LOL, particularly if June was there to look at.
