Oh, and please remember: RASPBERRY.

I guess I shall toddle off to the bedroom environment for some shut eye.

I love raspberries...in all forms...jam, yogurt, ice cream, sherbet, and especially fresh off the vine.  My family has a rather large raspberry patch in our backyard, and we get oodles and oodles of berries every summer.  We make enough jam and pies to last the winter.

mmm...raspberry pie a la mode...

Alistaire Crowley, Rasputin, Joe Orton, Voltaire and Rosseau. An interesting mix that should create stimulating conversation.

Thank you for the description of the Groundhog Day, DR TD.
It’s very educational and interesting.
Today is the Vernal Equinox Day which means spring has come according to the calendar, in Japan. So we now should feel SPRING is very close to us..... shouldn't we???    :-\

Reviews from three of the four New York dailys are in for Good Vibrations. Wow! Not a good thing to say among the three. Newsday hasn't posted the review yet, just an article about the show. If it keeps running someone has deep, deep pockets. It sounds like not much has changed since I saw the show a few weeks ago. Two of the three reviews don't even mention the cast by name. Don't know if that's good or bad. I think it's Clive Barnes in the Post who mentions four of the leads, including Jose's work partner Tittuss

I had a great rest of the birthday. Thank you all for the good wishes.

Our dear friend, Catherine, from Nottingham, called and we had a nice conversation. Two of my four sisters called. The other two sent cards. My brothers are "guys" who don't always remember birthdays. Oh, well.

We went out to a lovely dinner at a place called Dish in Chelsea. I had turkey meatloaf with mashed potatoes and zucchini and Anthony had penne pasta with portobello mushrooms. We then walked around Chelsea for a bit (it was a pleasant night with the mild temperatures from the day lasting into the evening) and headed back home for some amazing Chocolate Raspberry cake (how's that for working the word of the day into a post). All in all, it was a lovely day.

And then I awake to 43 posts!

I thank EVERYONE for giving me your good suggestions and comments on American Musical film! Now I’ve got a lots of titles from AMF, some of them are I’ve seen so far but some of them are not. I printed all the posts out for my future reference. Thank you DRs, again.
I have DVDs from a few films, West Side Story(as dear BK knows), Brigadoon, Silk Stockings and Les Demoiselles de Rochefort(oh, it’s not American). I wonder nobody has listed all of them except West Side Story.  Are my choices a bit off the point? ??? ??? ???
Well, I'll collect DVDs one by one from the lists from now on. :D

Good morning, all!  Today's another proofreading day, BABES IN TYLAND ACT Three continues. and we need a new phone in the office.  The one we've been using has been defective for several weeks; the buttons have their own mind, so often when you dial 212, the phone will punch in 242. not the same as tea for two, and yesterday 4 became the digit du jour.  A number like 212-583-1000 became 242-434-4000.  So, I took the phone apart and when I put it back together, nothing worked, as if I cared at that point.  I think the office manager has ordered a new phone, but if not already, perhaps he will today!

That was a ramble, but I cannot think of anyone to invite for dinner except a group of people I'd like to poison, so I'll leave those folk to your imagination.

Perhaps later, I'll have a scintillating list of interesting folk.

For today's word of the day, I think it might be wise to summon Miss Carol Channing.  Nobody, but nobody can say that word as well as she can.
DR Hisaka, THE YOUNG GIRLS OF ROCHEFORT is a delightful film!
Now for some of the others which weren't mentioned:

THE BROADWAY MELODY (which might just have been released yesterday by Warner), it might be a bit creaky, but, the birth of the American film musical's cliches and stock characters are in evidence. Plus, Bessie Love and Anita Paige are cute.

THE APPLE: yes, ask a couple of us DRs, and they'll tell you that you simply must see THE APPLE.

CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC:  well, it's not art, but, it's fun.

THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL:  I've spoken about this charming film online (www.dvdlaunch.com) and in the pages of Scarlet Street magazine, so I really don't have to say anymore, except SEE IT.

Today's TOD:
I would probably love to talk & dine with the celebs of the 60s:
Lee Harvey Oswald (did YOU do it, Lee?), Sean Connery (in his prime, and from interviews I've read, always a quotable guy), Shirley Bassey (this was a toss-up between her and Pet Clark, but, I've already met Ms. Clark and haven't met Miss Bassey), Walt Disney and Barbra Streisand (in her early goofy mode, of course).

FAIRPORT CONVENTION LYRICS
Who Knows Where The Time Goes?

Across the evening sky, all the birds are leaving
But how can they know it's time for them to go?
Before the winter fire, I will still be dreaming
I have no thought of time
For who knows where the time goes?
Who knows where the time goes?
Sad, deserted shore, your fickle friends are leaving
Ah, but then you know it's time for them to go
But I will still be here, I have no thought of leaving
I do not count the time
For who knows where the time goes?
Who knows where the time goes?
And I am not alone while my love is near me
I know it will be so until it's time to go
So come the storms of winter and then the birds in spring again
I have no fear of time
For who knows how my love grows?
And who knows where the time goes?

DR vixmom - We'd probably all have those universal translator thingies that make it possible for all the Star Trek characters to communicate.

Interesting we both pick Abigail Adams - she's a heroine of mine.  In fact, if I'd had a daughter, she'd be named Agigail.

That was actually one of my choices, but DH said she'd be teased and called  Dear Abby

Good news on the horizon. My brother, who was with his National Guard unit in Iraq for 18 months has left that country. He left at 5:45 this morning and he's in Kuwait right now waiting for a flight to the states. He should be in Wisconsin for debriefing sometime tomorrow and then by the end of next week he will be home with his family in Minnesota.
