For today's word of the day, I think it might be wise to summon Miss Carol Channing. Nobody, but nobody can say that word as well as she can.
DR Hisaka, THE YOUNG GIRLS OF ROCHEFORT is a delightful film!
Now for some of the others which weren't mentioned:
THE BROADWAY MELODY (which might just have been released yesterday by Warner), it might be a bit creaky, but, the birth of the American film musical's cliches and stock characters are in evidence. Plus, Bessie Love and Anita Paige are cute.
THE APPLE: yes, ask a couple of us DRs, and they'll tell you that you simply must see THE APPLE.
CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC: well, it's not art, but, it's fun.
THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL: I've spoken about this charming film online (
www.dvdlaunch.com) and in the pages of Scarlet Street magazine, so I really don't have to say anymore, except SEE IT.
Today's TOD:
I would probably love to talk & dine with the celebs of the 60s:
Lee Harvey Oswald (did YOU do it, Lee?), Sean Connery (in his prime, and from interviews I've read, always a quotable guy), Shirley Bassey (this was a toss-up between her and Pet Clark, but, I've already met Ms. Clark and haven't met Miss Bassey), Walt Disney and Barbra Streisand (in her early goofy mode, of course).
