Fun stumble-through - great cast, interesting and great songs - the What If went over very well, I remembered all my lyrics, which is more than I can say for one of our performers, who's had a very busy month and to whom I gave the most difficult epic five-minute song.  Just not retaining it, so we made a change to a song they know and which, ironically, we've never done.

Fun night of dancing. My Viennese Waltz needs a lot of work.

I was given a command tonight to order suspenders for my dad. Amazon filled the bill. They're already on their way.

R.I.P. the brilliant Carole Shelley.

This was one of the tributes to her on All That Chat.  I assume this means the person "Nydiva" already knew her at the time of the 2003 blackout.

I knew Carole was very ill. The amount of operations and treatments she has had to endure over the last few years was harrowing. But she was a fighter to the end.

Carole was always a very private person, but now I think I can tell my favorite story about her.

It was during the East Coast blackout of 2003 that I found myself stranded in Manhattan with no way to get home. My company had just moved to the Wall Street area and I had nowhere to turn. So I walked up to her apartment (then on 56th Street). She took me in without hesitation, drew me a bath and fed me dinner. The next day, she ministered to the blood blisters on the soles of my feet. I remember sitting in her kitchen thinking "My favorite actress and a Tony Award winner - and she's cleaning my bleeding feet". She also gave me a blouse (which I've kept to this day) so I wouldn't have to go home in the drenched-with-sweat one I was wearing.

To say I will miss her doesn't begin to express my feelings.

Tonight, after my family's family dinner (we had vegan chili...it was very good!), I went to Barnes & Noble and with my e-mailed 15% discount coupon bought the new 10th anniversary, first time on vinyl release of the original Broadway cast recording of In the Heights

I also (finally) paid for the B&N membership, so I got an additional 10% off my record set!  Of course, I had to pay for the membership, but I'll save over the next year with my purchases, even from their deli.

I watched about an hour of a movie called Brick from 2005.  I watched it because the Netflix description made it almost sound like an Adriana Hofstetter thing but with a male.  Well, no, not quite, in fact not at all, in fact this is one of the most awful movies I've ever seen - incomprehensible, horribly directed and written and I frankly didn't understand a word anyone said.  And it got RAVES and the director wrote and directed The Last Jedi - which I thought was pretty bad.  But then you read up on this guy - from USC Film School.  And he made this movie because of his love for Dashiell Hammett novels - not because he discovered them on his own but because the Coen Brothers loved Dashiell.  Everything he says about the movie is derived from other movies - Chinatown, Leone - it's just pathetic.  But of course the critics back then loved it.  Pretentious, arty and appalling and a complete money loser.

Later we took the zodiac to town and took a nice long walk up to view the humongous/incredibly beautiful iceberg.

I am glad to know that you actually touched dry land.  I was beginning to think your handsome captain was at the helm of The Flying Dutchman.

To heck with the liner notes, you need to write tomorrow’s notes at HHW.

And the vet’s office finally told me that it was fine to give Nick up to doses a day, if it makes him more comfortable.

It was vegan, but my sister also had real cheese and sour cream available...everyone added it.  No one is actually a vegan, but that's jyst the recipe that my sister has.

How can you tell if sour cream has gone bad?

Does it turn sweet?
