Ebay used to be fun, when it was people clearing out their attics and stuff. When the dealers got involved, things got way too expensive. I deleted my account many many years ago.

DR Laura, you and Leonard have both been blessed with his showing up at the right time and place, but I also agree that a Calico of similar age would look perfect right next to him. You do need to think in terms of color complementing and decor, after all.

Agree about eBay. It used to be a village. Or a collection of villages. Buyers and sellers could get familiar with each other to some extent. Now it’s practically post-apocalyptic.

Last night I saw teasers for a new movie in the “Dragon Tattoo” series, “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”.

Oy.

Of course I will eventually get around to watching it — with only the lowest of expectations — but what I’ve really wanted to do recently is return to the original three films. I only saw them once (likewise the Fincher remake of the first) several years ago, and I’ve been waiting till just the right time to savor them all over again.

BUT, we'll get our December 15th paycheck, then not get paid again until January 10!  Fortunately, they're going to let us work extra hours (at time and a half when we work over 40 hours in a week), and/or cash-in some vacation time, and/or cash-in our personal holiday hours (16 non-cumulative hours per year...if we have any left for this year), and/or cash-in next year's personal holiday hours.  We can work the equivalent of, or cash in, up to 86 extra hours of pay.  The union bargained for these options, and that's pretty cool.  Of course, people don't have to work extra hours or cash in any vacation or personal time if they have enough to get themselves to the new pay date, but we have these options.

Wow, that's some union!!!!

In contrast, think of the work the actors union put in to changing the "Gypsy Robe" to the "Legacy Robe."

Last night, I took my dear wife, Sandy, to the hospital.

She'd tripped in our back yard; fell flat on her face.

No broken bones, thankfully.  She's home, but pretty sore.

Healing to Sandy!  So glad to hear no broken bones.

The only consolation is grandchildren.

Uh, oh, at 58, is it too late for me to get some of those?  :)

Juxtaposition is important.

Remember the classic line:  If you've tried but really can't get rid of cottage cheese thighs, try making them look better; try putting a peach half next to them.

I never read that book either after loving the original series.  I just looked up the movie and will definitely watch it. I love Claire Foy.

DR George, your payroll story reminds me of when I worked as a librarian for Miami University.  We got paid on the last working day of each month, except December when we got paid on the last working day before Christmas.  That made January a ver-r-r-r-ry long month.

I like the idea of a corgi film

THE QUEEN'S CORGI coming in 2019
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=36&v=1EezOE9WtvU

but this corgi from the trailer seems deliberately ill-mannered.   (I hope in the whole film that butler deserved to be directly pee'd on.)

as one of my college teachers would have added, whenever months were being named:  except for February, which has 29.   :)
