  • Commit random acts of kindness and sudden beauty

Three kids....two six year old twin brothers and their nine year old sister were killed in a small town in Indiana this morning....they were crossing the road to get on the school bus - which was stopped with its sign swung out and its red lights flashing - when a pick up truck coming the other way ran over them....all three kids from the same family.  A fourth child was also hit and is in serious condition in the hospital.

The 24 year old driver of the truck said she was "distracted", but no other information has been released.

That is dreadful, what a tragedy for this family

One of the customers was dressed all in black--black bra, black corset, black pants, and black heels. Did she have her dates mixed up? Think today was the 31st?

I did not wish to stare--but I did wonder.
black bra and black corset?  Did she forget her blouse or is that considered suitable street garb on the west coast?

Maybe she's on her way to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show! ;)

And on that note (F#), I'm off to the theater for the final dress rehearsal of The Rocky Horror Show!  Hope it all works out (prop-wise)!

Be back later!

Bk, the point I found confusing is when people choose to do a festival show role after having auditioned, maybe even been called back, and then grumble about how little they're making.  Do their agents not tell them before they through the audition process?

  • Have a REALLY nice day!

Had a good music rehearsal for the revue - I actually ended up assigning all the solos that needed assigning in the group numbers, so that's out of the way now and I think it works well.  I came up with one really funny idea just hearing someone do a number.  These people are top pros, always prepared, never late, knowing their material.  What a breath of fresh air that is after all this crap with people who think they can just run herd over everyone because they think they're doing US a favor when the reality is we're doing THEM a favor - but they don't and will never see it that way.  It's a shame, but it also solidifies who I will work with and not work with again.

Thank goodness for these wonderful people.

Santa Monica, not Hollywood, I would guess an early Halloween party.  I can imagine it was difficult not to stare ;D

  • Dance, if it makes you happy.

John G, how do you wake JB? Or do you let him sleep in, even if it means missing The Price is Right?

J.B. is a rooster and a booster of the dawn. He's crowing long before i would like him to.

Found something at the library called L'Enfance du Christ from Berlioz. Playing it now. So, I guess the Christmas music is starting early.

I did manage to get several Christmas presents purchased today, so all was not a total loss.

I have to have Christmas shopping done before the beginning of December this year because of the trip. I think that's highly doable, especially if I cut back this year.

The only technical problems that I noticed were with the door at the top of the raised platform.

The guys doing it need to coordinate, but I'm sure that they'll get it.

It is strange but, except for our children, we don't really gift at Christmas anymore.

  • What is it, fish?

Back from a short rehearsal - wrapped a bit after nine.  There wasn't really much to do other than run stuff with the folks who were there.  I lost patience with Miss I Lost My Voice, who actually had the chutzpah to tell me it JUST happened yesterday.  No - it happened on Sunday and yesterday she told me it was back, although she did not use it.  I told her to go home and rest, she has tomorrow off, and Thursday day off, and I told her Thursday night I had to hear her or I would have someone else play the scenes, because this is so unfair to the person who actually has the most material in this show.  Doug thinks it's because she's angling to make us give her a personal mic - happy to do it if she'd like to pay for it.  But personal mics don't help if you don't actually use your voice - it can't project for you.  This is not the first time this has happened with this person - there is a long history here.  And if history repeats, she'll somehow magically be all better just in time for opening night, after leaving the star of the show hung out to dry, which I'm afraid I will not allow.
