I expect a call from The Game Warden this coming week. Remember him? Kind of a recurring character from about 10 years ago.

John, you've been here a long time. But I am thinking The Game Warden was mentioned before you were here.

Sure enough, at 5:30 Thatch began pestering me about breakfast.  At the new 6:15 got out of bed and fed them, then went back to bed for two hours.  I don't feel sick, but I feel completely void of any energy this morning.

I'm hoping I can finish this piano-vocal score of How To Succeed . . .  today.  The sooner this score is off my back, the happier I will be at this point.,

This week the cats and I watched the 1970s BBC production of Nicholas Nickleby, six episodes over six days.  I enjoyed much of it, but I also felt that some of the more comic characters knew they were funny and worked too hard. I did like Patricia Routledge as Mrs Mantalini quite a lot.  Last night we started the latest BBC miniseries from the late 1990s, which is three and a half hours long and not bad, but it may be too serious, giving the comic characters short shrift.  I did love the portly actress playing Fanny Squeers.

We'll finish that tonight. Then we'll watch the Royal Shakespeare Company's epic production with Roger Rees

I expect a call from The Game Warden this coming week.

This would make a good line - spoken ominously - in a David Lynch film.

The hotel rates for yesterday were astronomical, so I stayed at the YMCA, which is basically a hostel.  For a tiny room without a bathroom it was $175!

So, I was just catching up on yesterday's posts (on my laptop) and when I hit page 3 I got a notice that I could not access it because of "Pornography!"   Being curious,  I checked HHW on my phone and saw that there was a link to a video that may be the culprit!

So, the main reason for my trip is that my friend Robin is running (well, really walking) in the NYC Marathon.  She's raising money for Barbra Streisand's Women's Heart charity (associated with Cedars Sinai I LA).   Yesterday we picked up her number sign and hung around the COnvention Center, where there were thousands of people taking photos and shopping for marathon related items.

Later I got a ticket at TKTS for My Fair Lady. I had a great seat in the second row.  Laura Benanti can really sing that score.  The rest of the cast was wonderful too, including 91- year old Rosemary Harris.

Which reminds me:  There's a video of Christine Pedi impersonating Liza Minnelli.  It's something like "50 questions for Liza."  One was:  Who's your favorite Spice Girl.  Answer:  Rosemary Harris

Elmore asked the other day about Rex and Leonard. Rex took it surprisingly well. Leonard is very curious about Rex and wants to play. Rex is old and cranky. He is not amused by Leonard's attempt at play. As long as Leonard leaves him alone, all is well.

No, I will not be getting another kitten for Leonard to play with.

I keep remembering my dream -- which was about the silent film score, involving the score and/or recording downloading process that was needlessly repetitious and bothersome. I shall hopefully be exorcising the dream as I work on that today.

Yesterday during the tour, the next-door-neighbors were curious about all the traffic. The kids saw Leonard through the window, so the three kids came inside and wore Leonard out with the feather wand. Wae-Ling kept an eye on things.

What in hell are you waiting for??

So why am I suddenly watching Harold Lloyd? Because two weeks from today I’m playing in my first ever silent movie orchestra, for THE FRESHMAN. The score is a recently composed one, and I’ll say more about this — and the whole process which is new and fascinating to me — when I’m not pecking on the iPad.

Jane, my garden was on the tour. Getting ready for it was the hardest work.

It was very nice of you to offer your garden for the tour.

We were asked to put our garden on tour and, while tempted, declined.  Our very large gardens in Ashland would have been an incredible amount of work.

I have been struggling with some sciatica for a few weeks. By mid-morning the pain pills kick in and I'm ok, but I sure waste several hours before that sitting on an ice pack.

I have only used heat.  Next time I will try an ice pack.

NO PAIN VIBES FOR YOU!

Luckily, Wae-Ling was here yesterday to help show people around. It was kind of an open house kind of thing. People dropped in from 9 am to 4 pm.

Thank goodness for Wae-Ling.

This has happily surprised me.
