One year ago today I attended a cat-kitten adoption event at the 92nd Street & Broadway Petco. I was looking for a little brother for Annabelle. I had two requirements: he had to be younger than she and he had to have some white in his coat. I checked out all the cats in the back of the store and then walked to the front of the store where they were setting up more cages of cats and there he was: Thatch!

He was three months old, orange and white, a little creamsicle of a kitten, and I was smitten. Cupid's arrow never pierced a heart with more alacrity. Five days later I brought him home. Happy Anniversary, Thatch!

I am glad you stuck it out with Thatch, I remember the rough days and weeks in the beginning where you almost lost hope.

Vixdad hated it... He has quite the palate... In a mixture of 20 or so spices he was able to discern cinnamon and cloves , both of whic he detests

LOL.

I think it is a shame he detests cinnamon.

Vixdad tells me to just walk out or to end my days at 5:30 and let things go undone

He may have a point there, even if it is "only" 6:30 or 7:00.  The situation is out of control.

And walking out bears economic consequences I am not ready to accept

This answers my next question.

I have been struggling with some sciatica for a few weeks. By mid-morning the pain pills kick in and I'm ok, but I sure waste several hours before that sitting on an ice pack.

I have only used heat.  Next time I will try an ice pack.

NO PAIN VIBES FOR YOU!

Which reminds me:  There's a video of Christine Pedi impersonating Liza Minnelli.  It's something like "50 questions for Liza."  One was:  Who's your favorite Spice Girl.  Answer:  Rosemary Harris

So, the main reason for my trip is that my friend Robin is running (well, really walking) in the NYC Marathon.  She's raising money for Barbra Streisand's Women's Heart charity (associated with Cedars Sinai I LA).   Yesterday we picked up her number sign and hung around the COnvention Center, where there were thousands of people taking photos and shopping for marathon related items.

Good luck to Robin!

I remember years ago, there used to be the Olympia Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Timothy Brock.  He was commissioned to write a new score for Murnau's Sunrise and they recorded it.  The CD is on Amazon HERE, currently available for as little as $576.78!

:o
I'm glad that I bought it when it was new!  I knew that the CD was not the complete score but in reading the comments, I didn't realize (or maybe remember?) that the movie with the complete score had actually been released on DVD.  I may need to find that...assuming it's available and reasonably priced.

Well, that was easy.  HERE is a listing for a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack that according to one of the reviews includes the score by the Olympia Chamber Orchestra.  I have just ordered it! :D

And now, I must be off to the theater.  We have a 2 pm matinee, a break, then the last show at 8 pm, then it's all over...but not really.  Tomorrow, I start rehearsals for A Christmas Story!

Be back later!

Thank God we had to wait for a bus back in January.  It was either a bus south to the vet or a bus north to dump him at the Manhattan Animal Care and Control.  He was so unsocialized, I believe they would have euthanized him.

That wait for a bus gave me time to seriously consider what the hell I intended to do about the situation.  I made a commitment, and I am so glad that I did.

Back from this morning's run-through.  The first fifteen minutes of the show were great - almost perfect, and you could just see what this will be when the rest is on par with that.  Then MISS low energy I'm saving my voice came on and took the show right down to the floor, but it picked up again after that.  There's one performance I just need to get energized and authoritative - once that happens the two or three sequences that simply aren't playing well yet, will.  And then the performer who has never once gotten her one scene or song right, screwed it up royally again today, so Doug and I took her to the lobby after - our intention was to let her go, as we've already got it covered, but she was very emotional, had lots of excuses, so Doug took a positive road, gave her one more chance for tomorrow - to run the song ten times in a row and then do the run-through.  If she can't get it right in ten tries and/or the run then she's done.

An excellent movie in its own right.

Watching the rest of The Reivers. Turned into something really fun, even despite its Southern roots.
