I'm not greedy. Honest.

I worked eight hours today and ushered for six and a half hours tonight. I'm exhausted.

I can't say that I enjoyed Paula Abdul's concert, but the audience certainly did. They thought it was the second coming.

I found it slick, overproduced and probably featured more lip-syncing than any concert I've ever seen. When she did sing, it was to pre-recorded music. And she danced throughout without ever getting short of breath.

It also didn't help that I didn't know a single of her songs, and I proceeded to forget each one before it was finished.

But I do admire her for coming back as she did after a plane crash that left her paralyzed. 15 surgeries and countless hours of physical therapy later, she did dance well, even if that '80s style of dance is a bit silly looking.

On the way home, I was listening to The House of Pride, a collection of Jack London short stories set in Hawaii, and he used the word of the day for me: Titubated.

That's detabutit spelled backwards.

I know Stan's had hot dogs.  There was also a counter at a drug store at Pico and Robertson.  Those were good Orange Julie's.  By the 70's the drug store was probably gone.

Yes, the drug store at Robertson and Pico was my first Orange Julius - I would get one and pair it with a great hot dog with mustard and onions.  This would have been circa 1955 - there was a newsstand right next to it and that's where I bought all the comic book versions of MAD Magazine.  I think the drugstore was gone by the mid-1960s - certainly the Orange Julius was.

Well, I am off to rehearsal.  I think we're going to work on blocking with our new (and much younger) director.  She's really nice, so I'm sure it'll be a good rehearsal.
