It’s going to be a full day today. First up is a trip to Austin with Joy, her husband and sister for dim sum and then it’s Christmas to the Streets, the annual trip to the homeless center where we feed the folks there a barbecue dinner.

It's interesting reading other people's comments on this topic about money. That's the one thing in my life I did right. I started contributing the maximum to my 401(k) when I was about 25, and did the same with an IRA when I was 35, and never stopped. Even with all the recessions and stock market crashes, I now have a very nice nest egg and I can probably retire when I'm 61, if I want to. But what would I do all day?

I probably shouldn't have married a man just because he was Jewish and I knew it would make my Dad happy. But it all worked out okay.

This is sort of off topic, but when I was about 17, I had to decide between two job offers. One had better work, but the other had a higher salary. I went for the money, which is probably the wrong reason to do anything. I still sometimes wonder how different my career would have been if I'd chosen the better job with lower pay.
