I kept seeing a vegetarian dish on menus called kase spaetzle. My sister ordered it tonight (without prompting) and it was like a homemade mac and cheese. Heavenly.

The again, so was my Jaegerschnitzel with wild mushrooms and a great gravy thst flavored the spaetzle in a different way.

Those sound yummy if you remove the meat.

Plus, the gasthaus had two cats at the door, one of whom let me pet her.

Awww, lucky you.

I just heard on the television machine that Monday AND Tuesday are Federal Holidays, so no regular mail delivery until Wednesday.

Oh no, we are truly screwed.

Bryan is 42 today.  Poor guy has to work so we video chatted a couple of days ago.

A Very Happy Birthday to Bryan!

Thank you.  Talking to him was one of my "interruptions".

Thank you. I'm really enjoying my time with my sister. And i met so many new-to-me family members, ranging from a 3-month-old to my great-nieces' better halves.

Really, really nice.  Will any of this family visit you next Christmas?

I haven't found anything that says there will not be mail delivery on the 24th.  From the USPS website:
Christmas Eve Schedule
Local Post Office Hours
Christmas hours are posted at each Post Office location.
Your Post Office location may close early on Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24.
Business customers, please check with your Bulk Mail Entry Unit for hours of operation.

USPS Blue Collection Boxes
Blue collection boxes with final collection times before 12 p.m. (noon) will not be affected by early closing on December 24.
If a box has a final collection time after 12 p.m., its mail may be picked up earlier. For mail pickup on December 24, please put your mail into blue collection boxes by noon regardless of the final collection times posted on the box.
Customers who need later mail pickups on December 24 should visit their local Post Office.

Regular Mail Delivery
Mail will be delivered as usual Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24.

I still might be in trouble if an expected package does not arrive tomorrow.

Darn, the package is from Fedex, not USPS and it is already late.

Back from another fine show and a quieter audience than last night and Friday night, but boy did they cheer at the end - they did laugh and all the numbers got big applause.  It was oversold and we accommodated about eight extra people beyond what the theater holds.

Trump just gave all federal workers the day off on Dec. 24. Whether that affects the mail, I cant say. How the shutdown affects mail delivery I also don't know.

Not yet.  DR JRand68  said there was no mail tomorrow.  Did I read his post incorrectly?

Hmm, that concerns me.  I’ll check the tracking tomorrow when I’m at my computer and more awake.

Since we got home I’ve

1) wrapped Mary Linda’s stocking stuffers
2) made a batch of caramel corn
3) fixed some nachos for our supper
4) stalked an Amazon delivery, which finally arrived about 8pm
5) gift-wrapped the item Amazon delivered and put it under the tree
6) made up gift bags of caramel corn for Mary Linda’s family, our sister-in-law Jayne, and our niece Lauren

I quit for the night.
