The play tonight was a staged thing on another play's set - kind of a trial run for a play the theater won't do.  English play called Otherwise Engaged - I wish I'd been otherwise engaged, frankly.

Well, I must be off.  Tonight is the first of two rehearsals to prepare for a reading of a new musical by one of the writers of Cinder Edna that I was in last year.  We'll see how it goes.

Be back later.

The read-through for The Alpha Bet Caper went well.

I imagine this is a comedy.  Is it a mystery or a heist, or what?

Well, it's kind of convoluted, but basically the main character of Halonah is in the fourth grade.  She loves letters and imagines that they are a music group called The Alphabetastics (I play the letter P).  I don't remember exactly what happens or how, but the letter H disappears, and all the words that have the H sound are affected so that the other letters (the characters) can't say the H sound, so "that" becomes "dat," "hokey pokey" becomes "okey pokey," etc.  Anyway, the mystery of where's H has to be solved.  Also, Halonah's mother is pregnant and Halonah is eventually going to have a baby sister.  That figures into the mystery.

Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

Here's the description of Halonah from the script:

Elementary-aged, inquisitive, imaginative and smart, with a vocabulary beyond her years, prone to anxiety and a strong need for order. The Alphabetastics are a performing group that lives in Halonah’s imagination. Letters and their shapes, music, sounds, and words are her bliss, and a source of comfort in her highly desired, well ordered world, and comfort when she becomes anxious.

Fortunately, I turned up the thermostat on my bottom floor.  Then the heat rises up to my third floor, where I am and have my plug-in fireplace "burning." :)

Do you have a big cozy chair, an afghan, and a good book in front of the fireplace?
