I was completely obsessed with the musical Blood Brothers when Petula Clark did it on Broadway.

He killed his father,
That was patricide.
Then he took his mama
For a mattress ride.

From the CB Radio Theater production of Oedipus Rex

More on Peau d'âne:  Based on a fairytale by Charles Perrault, but uncesored like Sondheim's Cinderella.  The widowed king wants to marry his daughter, and she gets him to kill his donkey that shits gold and jewels and give her the magic donkey skin.  She flees to the enemy kingdom and bakes a cake for the Prince with her ring inside.  Prince vows to marry the girl whose finger fits the ring

All the girls in the kingdom mutilate their fingers to fit the ring.  See a pattern here? Suffice it to say that love wins out, war is averted, the fairy godmother who helped her escape arrives in a helicopter, Prince marries Princess, and king marries fairy godmother, finis!

I have the Demy film on DVD.  I do not remember a helicopter!

I do, too. Will have to watch this weekend.

I do, too. Taking it off the shelf as a reminder.

I am glad that DC Nicky is pretty good for almost 20, and that he has pain meds to help with his issues.  Did they shave his belly because this fur was matted?  I like that the visit included a brushing.

For the price I paid, he should have gotten a full spa treatment.  Yes, his tummy was badly matted.

The king wants to marry his own daughter!

[I haven't figured out this copy/paste thing on my cellphone yet.]

Some of the old fairy tales are not for children!

DR Jane I have read the book The Hate U Give. But have not seen the movie yet. I will see it when the library gets it. I would read the book.  I am really looking forward to the author's new book that came out this week.

My copy of the movie has come to the library.

Are you planning on watching it?  I decided to read "What Blooms from Dust" by James Markert first since they both checked out from the library at the same time.

The weather right now is around 28F. I just saw someone walking home in shorts!?!  Granted it is a lot warmer than it has been. But still shorts seems ridiculous.

I didn't think about stocking up at the market.  I should pay attention to the snow headed our way.

That is cold.  I am always amazed how some people dress and are comfortable.  I wear shorts to the gym and back.  If I know we are going to stop on the way home I take a change of pants, as I did today since we went to Costco.  Yesterday we went to Walgreens and I walked around the store in shorts.  I wonder what people were thinking about me ;)

Having discussions  re the title of my book, which may have to change due to a trademark issue.  IF I have to then the question becomes can I still use the setting - if not, I literally have to go through the book and change all the names and slightly fictionalize everything, rather like the Hollywood Historical Society book, which was actually based on a real group called Hollywood Heritage - I fictionalized all that for other reasons, but this one I'd like to keep real.  Trying to have a phone conversation about it tomorrow.  Meanwhile, I've begun doing the alternate version so that I'm ahead of the game should I need to change it all.  I've already adjusted stuff in the first sixty pages - doesn't really take all that long.
