DR George, there was no good dance music in the musical disaster called Thoroughly Modern Millie.  I thought there was absolutely nothing good about the show at all.  Talk about making a fun but messy movie into one pathetically inept musical!

That may be true...I've never seen the show. ::) I guess I was confusing the dancing from the show that I've seen and enjoyed with dance music, the real topic of the day.

On a happy note, I walked outside to go to the corner bodega and ran smack into our former super Val!

Very happy news.  How is he doing?

Thanks for all the vibes. They're helping and I'm on the mend. The worst is over and it's now like just a cold.

I had an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow, which I've rescheduled. I'll now be able to take it easy for a couple days.

Continued vibes to TCB to purchase a house he'll be happy in. I was surprised to hear of the multiple offers.    I really thought he'd get it. Maybe he still will.

I, too, am very saddened by the news of Notre Dame. France has really been suffering a lot for several years now.

DR FJL, I was interested in your post the other day about tax refunds. IIRC, you said they're smaller this year, but people should have been expecting that. (I hope I'm not misquoting.) My impression from various news articles is that those of us in high-cost (read BLUE) states will be affected the most. I haven't seen any feedback from low-cost states. Any idea?

I was sad that the composer of the stage version of TMM did not write any music that was in any way OF THE PERIOD of the show....it was a very generic NOW score.....

The reaction to the fire on Facebook is, for the most part, over-the-top and ridiculous - with several idiots blaming Islamic terrorists without a shred of proof - in fact, everything up to this point points to it having begun due to the construction that's being done and if you look at where the fire began you will see that is exactly the area.  They've apparently saved the artwork and artifacts and as of twelve minutes ago the Guardian reported (whether it's accurate I know not): Notre-Dame’s main structure has been “saved and preserved”, a Paris fire official has announced.

“We can consider that the two towers of the north belfry Notre-Dame have been saved,” he tells BFMTV. “The structure of Our Lady is saved as a whole.”

Had a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog and a side Caesar salad, picked up one package and a huge residual for ninety cents, and tried to make a deposit at the bank and was met with yet another huge line.  Whether that's to do with final tax day I know not.  I used the ATM.

Listening to music, writing liner notes, and choosing songs is the order of the rest of the day.

The film is too long, but it has a topnotch style and design, and brilliant cast, that the Broadway production completely lacked.  It was one of the ugliest things I've ever seen.

I have not seen any idiot comments on the reason for this, only that it was undergoing a renovation.

I was just about to share the good news regarding the structure.

The 2019 Nobel Prizes have been announced.  The winner for drama is Fairview, by Jackie Sibblies Drury.

Thanks for the list.  I have had "The Overstory" on my list of books to read.  I expect the number of people behind me in the library queue will grow.
