In the text, the same problem arose - which has to do with my not having renewed my license yet - mostly due to two to three-month wait times for appointments (I kid you not) and me not having the time to go sit for four hours there. So, AT&T's unbendable policy is you have to show a government-issued photo ID. Nothing else works. But the guy was very understanding and came up with a workaround and, as luck would have it, it was easy to do. It was just a matter of adding someone as an authorized user. Sandy Bainum was here picking up CDs and visiting, so I added her, they showed up, she showed them her ID and voila. She left, I removed her as an authorized user and the new phone was here.
