I had a long meeting at the Autry about the September film music concert. We have a new musical director and a choral director as well, and unfortunately our producer met them without me in tow so I had to alert the media about who was in charge. Thankfully, that happened very quickly when the choral gal who books those people came on with a bit of attitude and asked me, "What do you have to do with this?" I responded, "I AM this." I informed her that I was the show's director and that everything gets funneled through me. I had her in my pocket in about thirty seconds. The MD arrived, but he was so happy there was someone there who knew what was what and so we got along from the first moment. We're having a drummer for this show and I asked him who he was thinking about, he mentioned the name, and I said, "Oh, great, he's a friend and I've used him a lot." From there everything went swimmingly and we all laughed a lot and there was no tension whatsoever and now everyone is on the same page and the MD knows and is happy that I get involved in the arrangements of the music. I decided not to eat there.
