Here are two different video clips of Alma improvising piano pieces from someone pulling four random notes out of a hat.  Amazing doesn't even begin to describe them!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5JmGIVrI-o

and

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvECZ_ZXGqs

She makes a really bizarre mistake in the 60 Minutes one. The first note is a B-natural which she sings and plays correctly. But after she’s seen all four, she looks back at the B and sees/sings/plays a B-flat...and she never notices her error even with those notes there the whole time. The improvisation is great, but she’d already developed a blind spot with regard to that actual note.

YouTube this name and listen to her piano concerto.  This person is fourteen.  She wrote her violin concerto at nine.  She's written an opera of Cinderella that Sony has released on Blu-ray.  THIS is a child prodigy.  I believe she wrote her first piece at four or something.  Alma Deutscher

I was reading about her a few days ago. She was given a little piano as soon as she could walk and she started playing. She's also a violinist. Yes, incredible.

DR vixmom, I just heard on the news that the average cost of a New York wedding is $70,000!  I hope Florida has good discounts.

Vixmom is the bargain queen. I am confident she will stretch every dollar.

There was the time I met a former schoolmate at a party and in front of a group of people congratulated her on her pregnancy.....except she wasn't

Oh no!  It is easy at times to be confused if someone is pregnant or not.

Yes, I'm sure we've all had times when we wondered, but didn't wish to say anything.

There was the time I was introducing my mother to someone and said Mom, this is "Mary Smith", Mary, this is my mother .............................................,...... Mommy

I was at a company Christmas party many years ago when a co-worker was introducing me to his wife, "and this is..." Pause. I tried to keep from snickering, but I knew what had happened. His wife did, too: "YOU FORGOT MY NAME!!" I knew they hadn't been on good terms and was surprised she even attended the party. God knows what was said later, privately.

Back from picking up a package, then a sandwich and side salad at Corky's.  Transferring some cassettes right now.

Listening to Jerome Moross' first symphony - it's just great.  There's a not so hot modern recording on Koch with lousy sound and mediocre conductor - this one I'm hearing is a radio broadcast conducted by Alfred Wallenstein, probably the premiere performance.  I may try to have it cleaned up.  Also an old recording of Forget-Me-Not.  No info on that one, though.

The Moross is very Copland-esque.

My most embarrassing incident was in high school. My friend Lulu (Lolo in the Kritzerland series) and I had gone horseback riding at a stable in Hollywood. I was wearing jeans. The riding path paralleled the Hollywood Freeway. Suddenly I felt a rrrrriiiiipp along my right leg. OMG. The next thing I knew it happened on my left leg as well. My jeans were still secured at my waist and at the ankles, but the long leg seams were GONE!  And all those people were driving by and able to look at the girl who'd ripped her jeans!

The great thing about doing something very embarrassing in high school is that after that everything else is downhill. If you flub, well, it's not as bad as THAT time in high school.

Is this potentially a future Kritzerland release?

I haven’t posted anything embarrassing because even though all of our individual embarrassing moments are deadly and have the same half life as nuclear waste, you people already have me beat — in particular, vixmom and DR Elmore.

DR Elmore’s does remind me of a friend’s story for which I don’t possess the details, but it had something to do with him being at some Broadway event and standing in the aisle at intermission, telling his companion how, in spite of his love for Jerry Herman’s music and shows, he really thought Herman personally was an asshole... and there was Mr. Herman, on the aisle seat in the next row down.

Well, this is really cool.  Here is a one-hour BBC documentary on the writing and (original?) 2017 production of Alma's Cinderella that was performed in German (one of the people who spoke was listed as "Translator of Alma's Opera"):  Alma Deutscher Finding Cinderella Imagine Summer 2017.  They show several long clips of that production and also interviewed Simon Rattle.  Very fascinating.

The Vixter and her intended are very well grounded and practical people.  They would  have gone with  pizzas and music on the IPOD.  We persuaded them to be a little more fancifued.

Even so the wedding is a tiny fraction of the price you mentioned
