Topic of the Day: probably my most horrifying embarrassing moment was when I was in a musical revue that featured songs that won the Academy Award for Best Song. One of my songs was "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The music director/pianist started playing the song and I COMPLETELY went up on my lyrics!

I couldn't think of any of the words to save my life! I looked back at the pianist and he didn't give me anything...he just kept playing. The audience absolutely knew that I couldn't think of the words. I eventually started singing, but I started singing the second verse...but at least I was singing. I got through the second verse and fortunately had the presence of mind (finally) to sing the first verse second. I then got through the rest of the song and got sympathy applause from the audience.

YouTube this name and listen to her piano concerto. This person is fourteen. She wrote her violin concerto at nine. She's written an opera of Cinderella that Sony has released on Blu-ray. THIS is a child prodigy. I believe she wrote her first piece at four or something. Alma Deutscher

Last night was the Irish Rep's Gala, conducted by my friend John Bell, who's conducting the My Fair Lady revival at the moment, and orchestrations by Joshie. He called me around 6:00 to offer me an extra ticket he was given, but I turned him down because I was in the midst of taking care of the cats, dosing Annabelle, and trying to prepare dinner for myself. I couldn't have got to Town Hall by 6:45. I'm sorry I missed it. Last year's was wonderful.

Last night Annabelle crawled into my lap for about an hour, so that made me quite happy, and some time during the night she took Thatch's place in bed and stayed with me all night. She still seems lethargic today. She's been lying in the window, and she did not eat again this morning.

As I write this, five guys are out in my yard, trimming back our trees.
