I noticed spellcheck changed the title but was able to correct it before hitting save,  but perhaps I should have left it as God Tunes  Ladies' Rugs....

Kinda catchy

I see my doctor for my 3-month checkup this afternoon.  I'll be curious to hear the results of last week's lab work and see if I've lost any weight.

The faithful Thatch abandoned his place in my bed last night to play with Stella.  I always learn the source of the occasional noise I hear when I get up to feed them at 6:30.  They not only frolic, but they talk to each other.  Since Thatch was neutered at 2 months, his voice is still a kitten's, like hers, and I can't tell which of them is talking.

Annabelle stayed with me all night, and some nights she has terrible flatulence issues!

Patrol went nicely.  One of the ladies who cleans apartments was waiting for the elevator when Annabelle followed me off the lift.  She was quite amused.

I need to tidy the apartment, take a bath, and shave before I leave for the doctor.  I may take Stella with me when I take the recyclables to the basement.  She likes to get out, and I like controlling these escapes.

BK, thanks for the lovely compliment!

I shall have to get out that Lost in Boston album.

I love that first Lost in Boston, and I like much of Lost In Boston 2.  I wish I could now rewrite several of the charts for LIB 2.   I think I was burned out by the time I finished the charts for both 1 & 2.  What's surprising is that some charts like "Take It In Your Stride," which is one of my favorites, was written very late, and I thought, I don't know what to do with this; it's going to sound like crap, while one that seemed easy, like the FANTASTICKS song "I Have Acted Like A Fool," is not nearly as good as it should be!

Nothing like a good controlled escape.

Our controlled escapes consist of taking Poe outside to sit on the back deck, always in our arms. Which he loves. He probably wouldn't try to run off and explore at his age, but we'll forever protect him from that and from our having to chase him down if he did.

Mikey, on the other hand, is a devil if he gets outside. We could probably hold him, too, for brief periods, but it's a bit of a risk that he'll jump away and go exploring under the deck or perhaps even farther from the house, and we just won't take that risk.

Most interesting. I love hearing the personal histories of these albums.

Some time around 1997 I was working with the Frank Loesser office, and I got to know Colin Romoff, a wonderful arranger and pianist who played rehearsal for a lot of shows.  He taught Mary Martin the score for The Sound of Music and played rehearsals for Gypsy.  I had lunch with Sid Ramin one day and I mentioned seeing Colin.  Sid told me that at Gypsy rehearsals he used to sit at the piano, and a lot of the orchestra licks in Gypsy, like the little woodwind figure in "Wherever We Go" was based on the stuff he would hear Colin making up as he played piano for the singers.

Well, I've never forgotten that advice, and much of the orchestration in every early album I did with BK was based on what he did while the singers rehearsed.  At the end of a number, I had a pretty good idea of the feel he wanted and a lot of ideas for the fills.  Later, when he was recording tons of things and time was limited, I missed those early rehearsals with the singers and BK singing next to me.

Speaking of tomatoes, cherry tomatoes in particular, those have become a real favorite of mine. I love 'em all, but when I'm making my own salads and want some tomato in them, I've grown to prefer carefully slicing a few cherry tomatoes in half to slicing up a regular one -- unless I intend to use up the whole tomato, in which case I have to figure out the best way to preserve it (because tomatoes lose something in the fridge).

Anyhoo, my point is that for my taste, the cherry tomatoes provide the flavor and juiciness that a grape tomato doesn't. Grape tomatoes are ubiquitous these days, which probably means they're cheaper, and of course they're easy to handle, so everyone uses them as a convenient shortcut. But a cleanly halved cherry tomato (halved, because it's silly to pop the whole thing into your mouth and have to explode it in there to avoid a mess) is the best.

Sliced to avoid a small tomato stuck in your throat.

Jane, Laura is correct... I lost about half my salvitary glands to the radiation.

At the beginning of the treatment  were giving me a daily shot in the stomach to counteract the effect but I could not tolerate the drug in conjunction with the radiation and simultaneous chemo and they had to stop.

Small  price to pay to stay above ground but I fear I annoy people with my very slow eating and constant drinking during a meal

Was it expected to get worse?

Vixmom, how scary about the choking and the need for Heimlich. And how wonderful that Vixdad could just jump in and do it.

Yes, chop those salads a little more. That one sounded good, by the way, even if you eschew (Gesundheit) tomatoes.

That makes four or five people I've known who refuse to eat tomatoes. I believe this is evidence that certain people are mutations and should be watched carefully.

Y'all should learn the Heimlich maneuver   it's very useful.  Unfortunately it's about the 5th or 6th time I've needed it ...fortunately every time there was someone there who could do it

Thank goodness for that.

I just don't  like raw tomatoes ... I don't know why.
They look so lovely on sandwiches and burgers and salads and I've tried them many times but they just taste awful raw

But broiled, or in soup or casseroles...to tomato sauce, tomatoe juice, tomato salad dressing....love them

I really only like raw tomatoes sliced on a burger.  I'm not a fan of grape tomatoes, even though they're in quite a few salads.  Sometimes I'll put up with them, and sometimes not. ;)

More about the casting...there are several people now in final tech week for a show who have expressed interest in auditioning, but couldn't come to the callbacks last night.  Since the show doesn't go up until next year, the director is allowing them a later callback audition, which means the final casting won't be announced for a while.
