LATE-NIGHT MUSICAL INSPIRATION
« on: November 04, 2019, 12:40:20 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were late and written at night and were musical and inspired, and now it is time for you to post until the inspired cows come home.

I found my When Harry Met Sally soundtrack.  I'm going to bring it to work and listen to it there.

My first priority this morning, after the usual dish and litter cleanup, is to put away a lot of DVDs.  The cats in theuir frolics toss them everywhere.

Then I've got to make some headway on this choral arrangement.  It will be an exciting day at 202 West 82.

DR Laura, Stella at nine months is as large as my 2-year-olds.  I think she's going to be huge.

She was so small six months ago!

T.O.D.

I don't waste my time with Japanese monster movies.  Never have.

Instead, last night we watched MARATHON MAN, and it holds up very well.

I stopped down to our new super's apartment to tell him I'm getting no heat, and his wife told me he was still in bed and started work at 9:00!

Our previous super and Val before him were already working by 7:30!

This is most unseemly, and while I think he's been doing a fine job of keeping the building clean, it seems to me that a lot of tenants who might need to speak to him in the morning are already gone by 9:00.

Earlier in the summer, my niece found a kitten a few weeks old hanging around her garage.  After a few days she brought it inside the garage and began feeding it and made a blanket bed for her.

Kitty always avoided her....but always ate and used the litter box...

Last month, Kitty came to live with my sister who has a Manx cat named Puddin'.  Kitty lived in her cage for awhile....has been to the vet a couple of times.

And now she is a member of the household.  She and Puddin' eat each other's food chase each other around and lie together in the window.

Kitty's name is now Pixie Lou.  I have one picture of them playing a game that my sister sent me on my phone.....so I shall try to post it here today....Pixie is a brindle/calico.

I have wasted a LOT of time watching Kaiju movies.  My favorites include:

Gojira - Japanese & American versions
Rodan
Mothra
War of the Gargantuas
and Mechogodzilla movies from the 70's.

There are a couple of the newer ones from Japan that I like.....but I don't remember the titles.  One set in London with lots of weird monsters is terrific.

I do NOT like the two latest - well the THREE latest American GODZILLA movies......

I always liked Rodan, but I was never very fond of Japanese monster movies.

SR Ginny, I had never heard the word Chicagoland before!  I wish them great success with the work and selling the house.  I wish our damned property would sell.

In July 1985, when I moved from Redondo Beach to Chicago where I was to live and work for the next year and half, I thought Chicagoland was the silliest thing I'd ever heard. I think it took but a couple of months of seeing and hearing it used by the locals and on the news every night and whatnot, before I found myself not only embracing it but loving how it deliberately encompassed the suburbs and surrounding towns. It actually had, you know, "meaning".

And that probably sounds just as silly as the name had sounded to me, but -- perhaps like Chicago hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches and deep dish pizza and other things unique to the area -- you had to be there.

I think with the economy getting better (at least based on the main indicators), and it becoming less an employers' market, everybody's work ethic has adjusted.  I see it everywhere.  It felt like "what the boss tells me, I'll do, it would be so hard to find new work" was the ethic while the economy was in the toilet - but people are relieved now that if they leave here, new work WILL be found.

This is likely a return to normal - The super's wife (or the super) is setting rules that before 9 am is only for emergencies that can't wait until after 9.
