Two years ago today I went to an adoption event at the 92nd Street Petco, looking for a little brother for Annabelle. I wanted a cat with white in his coat because I had stepped or tripped over Annabelle in the dark on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and there he was, this little 3-month old creamsicle of a kitten. I was smitten; Cupid's arrow never pierced a heart with such alacrity.

Four days later, Thatch moved in, and after several rocky months he decided he liked it here.  You are my sunshine, Thatch!

Happy Thachiversary, Larry!! :D

Nice photos.

I have a working radiator.  The super was actually very good about it.  I saw him at 9:00, and he said he would check the boiler.  He just came up to tell I should be okay, and yes, the radiator is on.

Very good news, Larry!

Yes, I'm glad it was taken care of promptly.

You never know with Amazon - one day it's USPS, the next it's UPS, then Amazon delivery.

I was told we can't choose a preference. I imagine their software makes that decision.

I hope I can stay awake. And I hope I can keep the introvert otherwise engaged for a while.

Did I miss something while I was away?  Are you dating someone who's introverted???

Ha!

Elmore, which show was it that your friend was going to be touring in?

I hope it wasn't Anastasia, which just left town.

Fiddler on the Roof.  My friend John Bell will be conducting the tour of My Fair Lady.  It just began rehearsals.

A tour is coming to Seattle in January.  I don't know if it's the same tour, but here's some info:

For anyone who watches DEATH IN PARADISE season 8 is now available on Britbox. I wasn't expecting another season, given how badly the Caribbean was battered a couple years ago. I think they shoot on Guadeloupe.

John G - Oh, looking back. I guess you were saying there's an introvert side of yourself which you have to keep isn check at these events.

That side gets more stubborn and assertive every day.

I survived the lectures. There was some good information, but much of it couched in cliches. I hope tomorrow is better.

The lunch they served was lousy, but the free happy hour was good. Lamb chops, beef tenderloin, lobster gazpacho and more. I had a few beers.

Then I walked to Chinatown where I had a progressive dinner going from one restaurant to the next. Excellent food at all three places.

Walking back to the hotel while eating ice cream on a cold evening was sort of fun.

I’m going to turn in with my Zola novel, which is as relevant today as when it was written. It’s called either The Paradise or The Ladies’ Paradise, and it’s about a Walmart-type ladies shop going up against the local, family-owned stores.

I just had a strange experience. Things haven't been going well all day, but thankfully they've been minor, rather than major, problems.

I have an auto-ship order with Amazon. Among the items is a case of bottled water. Granted, it's heavy. Sometimes the delivery person brings it up to my door, other times he leaves it at the base of the stairs. Today I received an email from Amazon saying that delivery had been "attempted." Attempted? I was here, and they usually leave it anyway. Delivery was in the hands of USPS, not Amazon. Uh-oh.

I heard the mail carrier this afternoon and asked her if she knew anything about my package. She said she couldn't deliver it because it was too heavy and that I needed to take this slip she just put in my mailbox and go to the PO and pick it up. I explained that I can't do that. She said, "Don't you have a male who can do it?" (I find that quite funny, actually.) I said I'd call Amazon. She didn't see any point in that.

I spoke to Amazon. The rep understood my point: Amazon is supposed to deliver my order. He then called the USPS, where a very polite, but VERY slow man took my information (repeatedly) for 33 minutes. I am told the package will be delivered tomorrow. We'll see.

Even if you had a male to help you it doesn't mean said male could lift the box for you ;D

Good luck receiving the package.  I hope it is delivered to your door.

I hadn't realized that Amazon still gives some packages to the USPS for delivery; I thought everything came via Amazon truck. I'm wondering if the mail carrier just didn't want to be bothered. I wouldn't blame her, but delivery means DELIVERY, not pick-up.

Since we have a great mailman I don't mind USPS deliveries.  I also have never had a package too heavy for me to pick up delivered.  The mailman as also left larger packages at our door or hand delivered them if we were home.

George as scotch ages it becomes smoother and richer in flavor.  Between 12 & 18 years there is a slight difference, enough that I am aware of it.  There is also a jump in the price.  The real question is if it is worth the jump.  Keith, who does not drink it, says it is not ;D

Thanks for the info, Jane.  I don't think that I'll be partaking of the scotch anytime soon. ;)

At least for the price they usually give a generous serving in the States.  We forgot how restrictive Europe/Canada can be when we were in England.  Everything was exactly measured including wine.

I first had Glenlivet years ago in England or Scotland at Keith's suggestion.  It is funny he suggested it since he doesn't like scotch.
