DRRODZINSKI -thanks for the CD's! Hearing "Vickie" in all its glory was fabulous. I do NOT understand the song "Monkey in My Hatband" but I guess that's okay. Loved The Beagles, especially "Captain of the Ship"......

My eyes actually did bug out when I read that. And I have the hiccups, so all the poor saps stuck in the library doing the homework they didn't do over Spring Break have been looking at me kinda funny.

That said, I am a poor sap who is stuck in the library because I have to do the homework I didn't do over Spring Break. (If anyone has any input on the characters Pastorella from Book Six of The Faerie Queene and Marcela from Don Quixote, now would be a good time to spill it. Can you believe my teachers actually thought that we would be writing papers over Spring Break? I just don't understand them.

My favourite drink is Bubbles. I love a good champagne or sparkling wine...I'm quite fond of Italian Processco.

I like wine. Usually red. But can also get into the whites. I seem to drink a lot of Shiraz these days. California has a lot of excellent wines. But Australia is producing some great wines, as are South Africa and Chile. For awhile I got quite serious about wine in the mid-90's under the tutelage of my close friend back in Lexington who runs the biggest liquor concern in the city. I used to subscribe to the Wine Spectator and everything. The thing is I really don't drink all that much...mostly on the weekend, maybe a glass or two during the week. But wines I would buy would really stack up...I couldn't drink them fast enough...so I stop buying with the frequency I did. Now that the summer's coming on, I'll probably spend more time on my back balcony with a glass or two.

Soft drinks are usually ginger ale or root beer. I've had to give my somewhat regular ingestion of coca cola because the acid reflux was just too awful. I now only order one when I'm out with BK, it seems.

I love a good vanilla milk shake. The best to be had is at The Beachwood Cafe in Beachwood Canyon in Hollywoodland in the shadow of the sign. It is one canyon over from where I live.

I like "Monkey in My Hatband" for its mention of Bowling Green, (where I went to grad school) albeit in nonsense lyrics that could be referring to Bowling Green, Anywhere.

I'm not particularlty particular about beverages. I guess I enjoy a good black cherry soda from a brand called Boylan's. Of beer and wine I don't love it enough to have favorites. I wonder if merlot business will suffer due to the guy in SIDEWAYS raving against them.

Great dinner at Artie's yesterday with Jose, Elmore and Danise who should be getting home pretty soon. Such fine folk I've met on this board.

Two rounds of aural joy arrived today. First, Percy Faith's soundtrack to The Oscar finally arrived from Amazon almost a month after release. Now I know that Tony Bennett has gotten a little bonkers in his old age, but his rendition of "Maybe September" on this album is phenomenal--the man's breath control defies description. These are huge, arching lines (gigantic intervals), and I swear he takes about two breaths during the entire song. Phrases just hang on and on with absolutely perfect vibrato. Such a welcome change from the likes of Josh Groban.

And second, the "test CD" from Saturday's Tigard Pops concert arrived. This is the first "professional" (it's the guy's hobby) recording we've had done, and it's blowing my mind. This group is open to the public, no audition required, but I must say they sound absolutely incredible. Our version of Rick Astley's "Cry for Help" is goosebump-inducing, if I do say so myself (and I do, I do--ooh, a Schmidt/Jones reference).

Did anyone ever see him in the early 1960s film THE INTRUDER. He plays a racist who stirs up trouble in a small southern town. Scary...meaning he was very good in it, and his character was scary!

I watched the FRIENDS episode this afternoon where Freddie Prinze, Jr. played the male nanny. One of the funniest and most endearing FRIENDS episodes in its entire 10 year history. Definitely my favorite episode from Season 9. I'm going back a second time to listen to the commentary now.
