In that crazy Titanic book I am reading, one of the characters is Thomas Andrews, the man who designed the Titanic and died in the sinking. As the book goes on, the author apparently got tired of typing his whole name, which is understandable.

But, instead of calling him Andrews which most authors would do, he started calling him Thomas, which I think is very weird. But then, as he goes further, he starts calling him Tom. It is so strange, if it wasn’t so weird it would be funny.

I don’t think so. Except when he’s quoting dialogue and calls characters by their nicknames. And that is okay.
