Up until 4-5 years ago, JOLSON was my most popular one-person stage play. Since 1984, it had had many productions all over the USA.
Then, because of “political correctness,” those productions stopped. Indeed, some that were scheduled were even cancelled.
Since Al Jolson and the songs he made famous continue to remain popular, I’ve written a new one-person play that deals with the “World’s Greatest Entertainer,” incorporates his most celebrated songs, yet eliminates the primary element that made my original play “controversial”.
It centers on Larry Parks, who played Al Jolson in both THE JOLSON STORY and JOLSON SINGS AGAIN, and faced his own personal problems with “The Hollywood Blacklist”.
“LARRY PARKS aka: AL JOLSON” is available in both paperback and Kindle editions via Amazon and elsewhere. Performance rights are available.
