NO NOTES TODAY - OOPS, APRIL FOOL'S!

Well, you've read the notes, you've been foolish whilst reading the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home, which will be in ten minutes - oops, April Fool's.

Is the fact that the joint is empty an April Fool's joke or is it the ATTACK OF THE WUSSBURGERS!

Well, if the April Fools are not going to play then I shall simply have to toddle off to the bedroom environment.

You must "find someone to eat?"  Whether you're talking about your sex life or a new-found affinity for cannibalism, it's just too, too sordid for words.

Good Morning!

The late-night (re)broadcast of Passion just ended a few minutes ago...

Hmmm...

I have a couple of quibbles... well, more than a couple.  I saw the original production four - or was it five - times.  I saw the second or third preview.  The first night all the new changes went in - which was the originally scheduled opening night.  I saw it about a month after the official opening.  And I saw it on closing night.  I played the production at Signature Theatre a couple of years ago, and I saw the Sondheim Celebration production at the Kennedy Center two summers ago (with Mr. Cerveris, Judy Kuhn and Rebecca Luker).  So...

I'll "quibble" later.  Let me sleep on it.  Literally.

However...

Leslie Stahl's interview with Mssrs. Lapine and Sondheim before the show was a total joke.  Her interview after the show with Mr. Cerveris and Ms. LuPone and Ms. McDonald was also a joke.  Stupid questions.  No evidence of any real research about the piece.  Stupid comments - "Well, you're beautiful.  You are beautiful.  And you are beautiful."  Why?!?!!?!?

But it was nice to see Kate Baldwin as the Mistress.  Love her!  -And since Laura Benanti had been previously "announced".

And Paul Gemignani really does seem to get bigger... and bigger... and bigger...  :o

-And I was sort of surprised the Christopher Isherwood basically gushed over it in/on the New York Times.   -But that's horse-racing.

Well, it's very late here in Memphis.  I think I'm gonna pass on Graceland tomorrow, and take care of some "stuff" here for a while - bills, e-mails... some contract negotiations...  etc., etc., etc...  Stuff like that.  But we'll see.  It's also supposed to rain tomorrow, so...

However, there is a baseball game at 5:00, so that's a pre-show possibility.

Well... I'm rambling, so...

Goodnight.

I have been sick all week it comes in the morning and it seems to go throughout the day though i am still very very tired with little energy. it's off to the beloved campus death center today. (Our endearing term for our on campus clinic.) If you are male you have mono no matter what your symptoms, if you are female you are pregnant even if you have never done the deed with anyone. The joys of college. Then again it's cheaper than going to the clinic and having to pay a copay...

NEW LIVING WILL FOR JOHN DOE

I, _________________________ (fill in the blank), being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means.

Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of peckerwood politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade biology if their lives depended on it. If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to sit up and ask for a cold beer and the score of the Red Sox game, it should be presumed that I won't ever get better.

When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my spouse, children, and/or attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes and call it a day. If they won't do it, go out on the street and get some random passerby or wino.

Under no circumstances shall the members of the Legislature enact a special law to keep me on life-support machinery. I don't care how many fundamentalist votes they're trying to scrounge for their run for the presidency; they should play politics with someone else's life and leave me alone to die in peace. It is my wish that these boneheads mind their own damn business, and pay attention instead to the health, education and future of the millions of Americans who aren't in a permanent coma. It just goes to show you how sick you have to be in this country to get Congress to pay attention to your health care.

I couldn't care less if a hundred thousand religious zealots send e-mails to legislators in which they pretend to care about me or demonstrate outside my hospital with their bleeding Jesuses and sandwiches with Mary's face on them. I don't know these people, and I certainly haven't authorized them to preach and crusade on my behalf. And the Pope should mind his own friggin' business, too.

And if any of my family goes against my wishes and tries to turn my case into a political cause, I hereby promise to come back from the grave and make his or her existence a living hell.

Good morning, all!  Today is my last Friday at Barnes & Noble for a while.  I'm pulling back to Saturdays only through the next few months:  too much work piling up on my desk, the possible release of BABES IN TOYLAND taking up more time, and once/if the surgery is rescheduled, I'll be homebound for a couple of weeks.  I also need to schedule a trip to Ohio to visit family and friends, since my last visit was Sept. 2003.  Last year's poor health prevented a visit and my 83 year-old dad is anxious to see me.

No headache this morning, and I do believe it's all allergies.  That's one less health problem to fret about now. [move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]

CD:  BEIJING TO BROADWAY (a recording I did of Broadway songs sung in Chinese for the Beijing market)

VCR:  Cheap porn

Don't know yet what I will listen to. Just finished listening to Malcolm Laycock on BBC Radio 2. It's his weekly Big Band show.

We have a busy weekend. I'm seeing the Mufti concert verion of  God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, an early Ashman/Menken piece based on the Vonnegut novel. My dear friend, Peter Saputo was in the original production in NY in 1979 and he's here in town this week so we are seeing it together. I don't know the score at all it will be new. I'm excited.

I'm also seeing Darling of the Day on April 15th (the Mufti concert version)

Anthony has rehearsal for his showcase and he's helping his cousin with another project.

We're going to a party on Saturday evening.

Sunday Anthony has Tap (dance) class and rehearsal.

It's supposed to rain all weekend. Not much time for viewing on the VCR/DVD. Whatever happens, happens.

Oh, yes. On Saturday I will get my rapidly receding hairs cut.

Mr. Elmore, it seems that every Friday there is cheap porn in your VCR. If you want some DVD porn, I'll give you a disc  ;)

Just so everyone knows, a fool is an old-fashioned dessert that is made of cooked and pureed fruit, which is strained, chilled, and then folded into whipped cream.

Any leftovers are referred to as "nobody's fool."

Don't know if this is true but it's interesting nonetheless. It's about the origin of April Fools Day also called "Poisson d'Avril" or April Fish in France. Est-ce que c'est vrai, mon ami François?

And, just to prove that some April Fools are for real...

Quote
'Ms. Wheelchair' Loses Crown for Standing
'We Can't Have Title Holders Out There Walking'

APPLETON, Wis. (April 1) - Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin has been stripped of her title because pageant officials say she can stand - and point to a newspaper picture as proof.

..."I've been made to feel as if I can't represent the disabled citizens of Wisconsin because I'm not disabled enough," Lee said Thursday.

...Candidates for the crown have to "mostly be seen in the public using their wheelchairs or scooters," said Judy Hoit, Ms. Wheelchair America's treasurer. "Otherwise you've got women who are in their wheelchairs all the time and they get offended if they see someone standing up. We can't have title holders out there walking when they're seen in the public."
...

I've heard of telling someone to "sit down, you're rocking the boat," but this is a little extreme.   :-\

I watched part of last night's PASSION and also have a few comments.  I think Patti (Lupone) sang the song beautifully, and acted the part wonderfully.  But did anybody else think that she was just too old to play this part?  I really like her, but she must be 55+, and to me Fosca should be in her 30s at most.  It just seemed weird to me to see Georgia who looked 30s and Patti (who was uglied up to look even older) looked SO much older.

But what I saw was still very good.  And I think the acting was wonderful.
