Our announcement of a two season show was to be on hold until May 1 - since it in tentative and may be changed even before then....

BUT the director of ONCE UPON A MATTRESS that was canceled decided to post it on his Facebook page and piss and moan about it.  Of course he is friends with all of the biggest loudmouths in the county and they all started to piss and moan all over his page....

I am trying to keep announcements to a MINIMUM to keep from confusing people - season ticket holders and the parents of all the little darlings in the two workshops - who will now deluge our email and Facebook pages with messages and questions and outrage and suggestions and time consuming rants that I don't have the time or patience for right now....

Thanks!  I asked him to remove it, although the harm is done, maybe it won't turn into a flood......

As you can tell, though it is not a cause for concern, my attitude is NOT what it should be, and I am OVER a lot of things that I am dealing with at this time......as are we all.

But it will get better.....

The rationing of tests does have a theater wrinkle.

I will say it feels like access to the tests for employed show business folks (at a time when tests were even more scarce) is troubling. From this Variety article: https://variety.com/2020/legit/news/aaron-tveit-coronavirus-broadway-moulin-rouge-symptoms-smell-1203552585/ ominous words about access to the tests, I think, based on concerns of keeping shows open -

And that the show was letting personnel who they knew were exposed near the stagehands, dressers, too, and this in a show where there are entrances less than six feet from audience members.

This feels like economics dictated keeping the shows open.
Here's the quote:

"And then our producers went into immediate action. They availed anyone who was in direct or indirect contact with them to be able to be tested. At that point, I had cold symptoms and a little bit of a cough. I was feeling a little bit of fatigue. I thought, “Why don’t I go in and get tested?

[interviewer}. Was it hard to get a test?

Our producers acted swiftly to make that happen. There is a doctor who works with the Broadway community, and it turns out the doctor had the test."

T.O.D.

George C. Scott was one of the finest actors of his day.

I had the pleasure of seeing him on stage in THE BOYS IN AUTUMN.

Breaking news.. King Felipe VI is quarantined to his jet.  Madrid news reports the reign of Spain is staying mainly on the plane.

I saw Scott play Gramps in On Borrowed Time with Nathan Lane and Teresa Wright.  It was wonderful.

After I made the bed, I had a 2-hour nap this morning.  Thatch and Stella joined me.

Thatch loves to be brushed.  Every night, just before I go to bed, I give him a long brushing, during which he rolls about, stretches, and luxuriates in it.  About a week ago, I gave Annabelle one, and she reacted the very same.  Now, when I start to brush Thatch, Annabelle butts in, throws herself about, and carries on until I stop my work on Thatch and devote myself to her.

I love ANATOMY OF A MURDER.

Can't remember when I first saw it. Probably in LA at a revival house, I really don't know. But the last time (at a theater) was the best ever.

Back in the early aughts this beautiful old single screen theater in Suffern, NY, the Lafayette, was showing a lot of classics on Saturday mornings, and I drove out there for a number of them over several years. Peter Apruzzese, a wonderful projectionist (he posts on HTF once in a while), ran a *perfect* 35mm print that was to die for. I told him later that I, being fully aware of its 2:40 running length, was sitting there taking it all in and loving every minute of it, and at one point I thought to myself that we're probably at or beyond the halfway point by now, and wasn't this a satisfying presentation, blah blah blah. Five minutes later, the movie was over! He said the same thing happened to him in the booth. He was finding it so gripping that he very nearly missed a reel changeover.

Anyhoo--- love it, and love the music. I have the original 6-eye Columbia LP, and a very desirable Mobile Fidelity release. They're electrifying, played properly over the Big Speakers.

I wonder if it was Foster Hirsch who hosted the showing of PORGY AND BESS at the Ziegfield in... I'm thinking October 2007. He was promoting his new book, and really did seem to think he was God's gift to the world when it comes to Preminger.

Another vote for Kritzerland links here, please.

I, too, don't care to navigate the wilds of Facebook as I'm trying to enjoy something like that.
