I think I'm going to go harvest some loquats. The tree is looking really full this year.

Does any other DR remember this.....it's from 1998 or so.....I didn't even know it existed.....I certainly didn't watch it.....it seems to have disappeared.

Very vaguely, JRand. I'm sure it wasn't that scandalous. Probably didn't even go into her Ethel Merman fixation.

Back in the 1980s, reading the obituaries was considered the gay man's version of reading the sports page.

Now that there are no sports, what's the new equivalent?

There were also many cars on the freeway - obviously not rush hour traffic or anything, but surprising in that exactly where are these people going?

For drives to get out of the house ;)

On the freeway?  I don't think so.

;D

Why were you on the freeway ;)

Do most cities have people with their faces or hands covered?  I am not going into stores. But in Canada (at least where i am) they have said to keep the masks for the medical professionals.  They wash the grocery carts before each person uses them. You wash your hands before going in the store. And you stay 6 feet away from those around you.

They wash the carts or sanitize them?  The entire cart?  I am impressed.  Keith & I like to go in together and split the list in half but I do understand the reasoning to permit only one person.

Most of the masks are homemade or cheap ones the professionals wouldn't use.

The reasoning to wear a mask now is that you are contagious before feeling sick. If you wait until you have symptoms to wear a mask you may have all ready shared the virus.

I am wearing the mask because of my cough.  I don't think it protects me.  Keith is adamant I wear something.  Today we did our stressful trip to the market.  We split up now to reduce our time there.  I wipe everything I pick up with a sanitizer wipe before putting it into the basket that was also wiped.  I doubt I do a great job so everything is wiped again at home.

Here only one person per family is allowed in the store at once. No couples. No kids.

They say if you aren't feeling well to wear a mask. But it's not really protecting you as you mentioned. it's protecting others.

You got that already :)

I had no idea the KL show was live last night. That must have only been on FB. I was here, Bruce, and watched as much as I could until I had to crash. My favorite, I think, was Adrienne Stiefel doing "Have I Stayed Too Long At the Fair?" I'd seen the clip before. It really is perfection.

Re masks:
I wear one now to protect myself and others. It's not always possible to stay 6 ft away. For example, last week I was at Trader Joe's. TJ's has been in the forefront of allowing only a few people in the store at one time, giving you hand sanitizer as you go into the store, and marking off six-foot intervals on the waiting area. But, despite all that, I was in the prepared foods section, deciding what to buy, when suddenly I was aware of a man standing RIGHT next to me, very close. I was shocked. We've only been distancing for a few weeks, but it's become second nature. Then, I heard another man, RIGHT behind me, talking to man #1. They were speaking a language I didn't recognize. Neither wore masks. Neither made any attempt at distancing. I grabbed my food and left. Even pre-Covid I think I would have been uncomfortable with such proximity.

As Jane has mentioned, some people are very inconsiderate. Most people I've encountered are very aware and do their best to distance, but there are exceptions.

When I watch a movie now I find myself saying, "No, no. Distance!" Or, "We can't do that any more."

Fell asleep for over an hour.  Ate Wacky Noodles and the mini-pazookie.  So, that's the food for the day and evening.  Watched a movie.

Zev and Stan Seiden were regular producers here in LA - tons of shows at theaters like the Ivar and the Las Palmas.

So, do you all know about this ridiculous crap known as Quibi that just launched?  It's stuff you watch on your phone in quick bites, six to ten minutes.  I heard about this a year go because David Wechter's son sold a series to them or a movie in chapters or some such silliness.  Because the attention span of people these days isn't short enough, the brainiac known as Jeffrey Katzenberg wants to make it even shorter.  It's gotten pretty bad reviews for the content and also the irony of launching something you watch on your phone (you can't watch it on other devices) during a stay at home.

The Levi video has been uploading to Dropbox, which is the only way I can share it, for four hours and it's not even close to being finished.  I suspect it will take until tomorrow.

Why are we on page three when everyone is staying at home social distancing.

After a hectic time shopping this morning we were pleasantly surprised to have a relaxing walk in the afternoon.  Most of the people out today were regulars and considerate.

We were on a sidewalk and saw a couple coming towards us from a good distance away.  To avoid them we took a path down to benches overlooking the river.  As we turned to head back, figuring the couple had continued on, we noticed them coming towards us again.

We then realized it was our friends in our building heading to visit with us :)

We had a nice chat while practicing social distancing and away from any walkers that might want to pass.

I tried going for a walk earlier. I would like to finish my audiobook tonight and figured I'd be able to do that on a walk. Well, no. I rounded the corner and a group of six or eight people with no gloves, no face masks were headed straight at me. I returned home and listened while I cleaned up some more in the garage.

I have many stacks of books that need boxes so I can get rid of them one of these days. I've decided to get rid of most of the wine books and a great many food histories. I have a great many more to cull through.

I did manage to clean out what I needed to from the freezer. I'm left with a turkey, some bacon, a pork tenderloin, a bottle of aquavit and ice cream bars.
