I always forget just how wonderful North by Northwest really is until I watch it again.

Time for a little Hitchcock. Tonight is North by Northwest.

We did a spoof of that in law school. It even had a Crop-duster video game that consumed a third of the budget, but it got a mention in the Crimson (the undergraduate paper):
https://www.thecrimson.com/article/1983/3/10/legal-ease-pbwbhile-reporters-from-society/

"Even the special effects are respectable. In the movie North by Northwest, Cary Grant was chased across a cornfield by a cropduster. In the law school parody, Thornbook plays a video game called "Cropduster" which seizes his leg and starts to spit out real bullets that convincingly explode against a wooden backdrop."

I didn't work on the Cropduster, but I did co-write the production number  which had as its one dramatic purpose, to  distract the audience from the Cropduster being set up.

Mom turned 93 yesterday.  She had a quiet day, I sent flowers the day before and her caretaker made her an angel food cake with I think they call it 7 minute frosting.  It's sort of like marshmallows.  it's her favorite and she loves lots of frosting.  My brother got her pan fried chicken from this place at the lake she loves and today they will bring her dinner.   She's happy

I like that you could send her flowers and there was someone to receive them for your mother.  I thought of sending our daughter in-law flowers for her first Mother's Day.  If Bryan isn't there she would have to leave the baby to go down stairs & outside to get them.  I'll pass.

They do it contactless, so they set them down at your door, call you and wait until you pick them up outside your door.   Mom is perfectly fine to go to the door get the phone etc, she just doesn't answer the phone if she doesn't feel like it, so I had to make sure Krista would be there

Happy birthday to Cillaliz's mom.

Thank you!   My brother didn't think he'd be able to get through the snow to see her, but it calmed down so I think they got out of their lane

HAPPY EASTER!!!   I woke this morning to thunder snow

One of the worst blizzards I’ve ever experienced started with thunder snow...

This wasn't that bad about 4 inches of snow, but it was windy so you wouldn't have been able to see in the country.  More snow where my mom lives.  It will be gone in a day or two

My nephew just posted a selfie standing in the middle of the road at Amsterdam and West 76th Street.  It's light out, the traffic light is green and there isn't a single car moving on the street. I don't see any pedestrians either but there is one guy on a bicycle.   Pretty strange to see.   He didn't make it sharable on his page, so I'm not going to post it.

He also posted a selfie in his PPE.  I guess that's the thing to do these days, or at least that's what his post says.  I hope he's keeping his spirits up as what he's doing is thankless.

And now, I'm off to bed to not dream about wooden chicken cat tree gym things. ;)

Have a good day, all!

Well, I didn't dream about it, but I did build it.  Here's one angle:

9,385 died here so far...

188,695 confirmed  cases. But considering how many remain untested...

Yes, I know that.  I won't repeat the descriptions he's told us of what he's dealing with.  It's really unbelievable.  Hoping and praying your gloves were enough to keep you safe from the coworker

Easter is my least favorite holiday in the Christian calendar,  I've never understood any of the mythology behind it beyond the incorporation of pagan spring rituals.  I at least understand the mythology behind Christmas and Saturnalia.

I guess that's something.

To me it is chocolate bunnies.  Growing up we never did much for Easter.  My parents got us a treat, if they thought about it.  For our boys I did nice Easter baskets filled with little toys I spent months collecting.  Also included was some candy.  A carrot was left out for the Easter bunny.

Because of the pets I never did Easter egg hunts in the house.  They did get invited to a few of those elsewhere.

Sometime when we lived in Colorado (when I was between 7 and 10 years old), my parents hid Easter baskets for me and my sister.  She found hers, but I couldn't find mine. :( My mom was the one who hid it, but she couldn't remember where she hid it!  I think she figured that it would turn up eventually, so she started making breakfast...pancakes and bacon and eggs...the usual stuff.  As was her wont, she turned on the oven so that when she finished the pancakes, she could put them in there to keep warm while she made something else.

Well, it didn't take long for us all to smell melting plastic and THEN my mom remembered where she put my Easter basket...IN THE OVEN!  And it wasn't actually a basket, it was a big plastic bowl filled with plastic Easter grass and chocolate eggs!  It was all melting! :o FORTUNATELY, the whole bowl didn't melt, just some of the edges, but the plastic grass didn't survive.  I think the chocolate was okay after it cooled down and re-solidified. ;)

But because of that, to this very day, I ALWAYS look in my oven before I turn it on, even if I KNOW it's empty. :))
