Easter is my least favorite holiday in the Christian calendar, I've never understood any of the mythology behind it beyond the incorporation of pagan spring rituals. I at least understand the mythology behind Christmas and Saturnalia.
I guess that's something.
To me it is chocolate bunnies. Growing up we never did much for Easter. My parents got us a treat, if they thought about it. For our boys I did nice Easter baskets filled with little toys I spent months collecting. Also included was some candy. A carrot was left out for the Easter bunny.
Because of the pets I never did Easter egg hunts in the house. They did get invited to a few of those elsewhere.
Sometime when we lived in Colorado (when I was between 7 and 10 years old), my parents hid Easter baskets for me and my sister. She found hers, but I couldn't find mine.

My mom was the one who hid it, but she couldn't remember where she hid it! I think she figured that it would turn up eventually, so she started making breakfast...pancakes and bacon and eggs...the usual stuff. As was her wont, she turned on the oven so that when she finished the pancakes, she could put them in there to keep warm while she made something else.
