8.955 cases in Indiana - 436 deaths - 105 cases in my county.

Our governor and his staff and other officials speak to us daily at 2:30 p.m. and then take virtual questions from reporters.

It is a much saner version of what happens around 6 p.m. everyday on some of the cable channels.

We have 10,903 confirmed cases - 549 deaths - 258 confirmed in my county with 15 deaths.   Vibes Indiana does not catch up to us.

Funny, I have no idea if our governor is speaking daily.  We watch Andrew Cuomo's reports.  I don't always watch but Keith does.

Food will be here momentarily - Cheesecake Factor - two meals in one - an appetizer Caesar salad, which is quite large, and the spicy chicken over rice, which I haven't had in years but which used to be my favorite.  I'll eat half of each now and the other half later.

I wish I could get their BBQ salad with extra beans instead of chicken.  At home I could add tofu.

And a slice of anniversary cheesecake.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes.

As more time goes by, I realize how really LUCKY I am with my diagnosis, quick treatment, and my doctors' actions.

Everything happened in the space of about 18 days from sending me to the emergency room to my surgery.  I didn't really have much time to think about the fact that it might go wrong or that I might shuffle off this mortal coil.....

I'm alive and it seems more like a miracle every day.

I know how you feel,Jack.  Whenever I hear about somebody being ill I am filled with gratitude for my good fortune in receiving excellent treatment and the support I received from family and friends, and I count the members here as having been crucial in keeping me positive when things got tough.

I ventured out to Whole Foods today. No line, but they wouldn't let me bring my insulated canvas shopping bag into the store. I don't mind, but the person who was telling me was wearing two masks and had an accent. Communication wasn't great. A sign would have helped.

VERY little food. No bakery items whatsoever. Few employees. Carrots seem to be extinct. I was able to buy a few things, all at higher prices than I'm used to, but glad to have them nevertheless.  People in general seem nicer. I think most people understand that circumstances are not ideal and that we all have to pitch in.

The online retailer I use a lot is out of stock of many things again. Last week it seemed like things were improving, but things change quickly these days. Sambucol is as hard to find as TP. In fact, they had some TP, but no Sambucol.

Glad to hear the good news from Elmore! I checked my account; mine has not arrived. For some reason I was thinking I'd receive some sort of notice--silly me.

I think Jane is the only one here besides me who has Acorn TV, but there's a French mystery series there that I like very much, BALTHAZAR. Acorn TV offers a free one-week trial, should anyone wish to give it a try.

Did I forget to say that my STIMULUS was in the bank this morning?

I believe I did -- and if that isn't worth a post, I don't know what is.

I also forgot to comment on this part of DR Elmore's post:

Quote
It was quite an exciting evening, and its anti-capitalist projections really pissed off a lot of gray-haired audience who walked out in droves in Act Three.

That's incredible! Okay, that was a long time ago, but ... but ... that's mind-boggling.

Aha - not Mahagonny, but Silbersee (Silverlake) - that's what I saw Joel Grey do at the Music Center - directed by Harold Prince!

I wanted to see that.

DR FREDDIE indeed the Broadway musical ANNIE opened on April 21, 1977, and the movie ANNIE HALL opened on April 20, 1977.

So says Wikipedia.

I didn't realize movie opening dates were on wikipedia.  Thanks!

I see hours and hours of fun ahead with this.

I bought a Criterion Eclipse collected a few months back of movies made by Claude Autant-Lara during the Occupation. I just put on the first one, Sylvie and the Phantom, and it's quite charming. Pure French. It also features Jacques Tati in his first film role as the silent Phantom. He's not the star, despite the title.
