Topic of the Day:  in my DVD player:  The Big Lebowski.  I MUST watch it this weekend...because I borrowed from a co-worker and I've had it for much too long!

Yesterday, I received a package in the mail.  In the package was a t-shirt.  Fortunately, I ordered the t-shirt, so that's good.  It has DIVERSITY written on the front, along with a whole bunch of different faces:

The designer is Von Glitschka, and I think we met in elementary school, when my family moved here to Washington state.  We were also friends through middle school and high school.  He was always drawing, and I remember in middle school, he made his own short movie and I was one of the "actors"...or maybe I was a glorified extra.  I can barely remember much about it.  Anyway, he started his own design firm and is also teaching online classes and I guess is really at it!  A couple of weeks ago, I saw that he posted this t-shirt on his Instagram with order information and really liked it, so I ordered it.  I'll wear it to my parents' house today. :)

And now, I'm off to bed.  I have some mini-cheesecakes to bake in the morning.

Have a good day, all!

Another humid and hot day.  I do hate summer.  I'm already looking forward to snow, which we never had last winter.

I have to stay close to home today.   At some point Lenox Hill Hospital will call with info on Monday's check-in, and the UPS delivery of Amazon Pantry items that was supposed to arrive yesterday - and did not - is supposed to arrive today.

Last night we watched the last BBC version of A Murder Is Announced, a Miss Marple mystery with Geraldine McEwan as Jane Marple.  It was fun.

I have 6 more Abbott & Costello movies in my DVD library that I have yet to watch.  They are:

A&C GO TO MARS
BUCK PRIVATES
HOLD THAT GHOST
JACK AND THE BEANSTALK
KEEP 'EM FLYING
RIDE 'EM COWBOY

Actually, I've seen all of these, but not for decades.

Any suggestion?

I've just received an interesting book by Matthew Hahn:

THE ANIMATED PETER LORRE

If you like Peter Lorre and you're into animation, you should enjoy it.

Would you believe that Peter Lorre or a character representing him (e.g. a duck, a fish, etal) appear in over 700 animated cartoons?

I think Buck Privates is my favorite of the Abbott and Costello films. It could be for the Andrews Sisters snd Shemp Howard as much as anything.

TOD:

I hope to finish my Shakespeare project. I still haven’t found a video online of Henry VIII,  but I do hope to watch the last two others that I haven’t seen, Troilus and Cressida and The Comedy of Errors.

Kitty cleanup is finished, and I have things to tote to the basement.  After 9:00 I will vacuum.  Tomorrow, on my way to my Covid-19 test, I will stop at the bank and post office for more stamps.

Finished watching SHIP OF FOOLS last night, and enjoyed it. There certainly are scenes that could use some trimming, but I was pretty well engrossed by the proceedings. I want to do some reading up on it, then return to it for a good straight through viewing.

I was interested to go back and review BK's reactions to the film. The endless George Segal stuff -- yes, that's it! Totally agree. One scene of that was enough. Or maybe even too much. If you excised those scenes, or the whole character, there might be just enough on the cutting room floor to get the pacing and the rest of the film in balance.

I was floored by Vivien Leigh. What a stunning woman, and role.

DR DRUXY all of those films are about what you would expect HOWEVER A&C GO TO MARS has one of the funniest sight gags ever between Lou and Mari Blanchard that really makes me laugh every time I see it....

And of course the hilarious drill in BUCK PRIVATES when every one is counting off and the numbers get mixed up and the sergeant says to Lou:

"Are you one?"

And Lou replies feyly: "No, are you?"
