This morning's epic is Hoop Dreams, which I haven't seen since it came out. Three hours of high school basketball through the eyes of two players and yet so much more. Not a topic I'm normally interested in, but the film is electric.

TOD: I'm going to pick 1977, because I think it was when I first started going to movies like crazy. Here are a few from that year that I loved.

That Obscure Object of Desire
Stroszek
A Special Day
Slap Shot
The Rescuers
Opening Night
One Sings, the Other Doesn’t
The Man Who Loved Women
Madame Rosa
The Last Wave
The Late Show
Julia
Equus
The Duellists
Cross of Iron
3 Women
Annie Hall
The American Friend
New York, New York
A Little Night Music

and one I didn't really care for: Star Wars.

In spite of having "nearly" a decent night of sleep -- which I really needed, judging by my unplanned nap last night when I slept right through BK's test -- I still woke up this morning feeling in need of more sleep.

A couple of slices of toast, a cup of coffee, then three (3) egg/cheese/green chile burritos and another cup of coffee later, I was still groggy. So I laid my head down (just my head, the rest of me was off doing other things) to see if I could catch a quick nap. Just a very quick one. A wafer thin nap.

Suddenly it was two hours later and I was trying to shake off the grogginess and figure out what day it was. I guess I did need that.

Naturally, since yesterday felt like a Saturday and this morning felt like a Saturday, this now feels like a Sunday afternoon and there should be a Kritzerland show in a few hours.

I was saddened last night to learn that one of my favorite actresses Prunella Scales had died.  Her death is not recorded on her IMDB page.  I've loved her ever since she played Sybil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers.

180 from a basketball documentary, I'm starting to watch/listen to Bernadette Peters' concert. The inclusion of Mary Tyler Moore at the beginning is bittersweet.

I have never thought about one particular year as being a favorite.  There sure are a lot of great films on the 1962 list.

The Music Man

Birdman of Alcatraz

Mutiny on The Bounty

Dr. No (It always seems like I was older when I first saw this with my father & brother.)
