DR Jane, we raised dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind (in NY) many years ago. It was so hard to give them up, but oh so rewarding to attend the graduation ceremonies and meet the people "our" dogs had been assigned to!
I walked most mornings with my friend & our dogs, plus I babysat the pups. I would like to have gone to one of the ceremonies. Of course I always heard all about them. My favorite of all the pups was Bree. There was only one failure, a German Sheppard that never stopped chasing her cats.
One day we were watching this crazy puppy at our house when he got his head stuck in the side of a big comfortable chair we had. We had no idea there was room for a head to fit in there

Fortunately Keith was home to help me release her. It was always something with this crazy dog.
