I had taken piano lessons when I was in middle school and high school, then stopped for a couple of years. I started again when I went to a two-year college and during those lessons, I learned the original solo piano versions to a couple movements of the Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition." I couldn't even tell you which ones they were, let alone play either of them.

Not really. I can still read music and plunk out notes, but not just sit down and just play anything. It's been too long.

i don’t think I have ever been in the Winter Garden Theater. Nope, I just checked and I never saw any of the productions that played there. Probably, part of the reason is because CATS played there for a couple hundred years. I had the misfortune of seeing CATS in London.

Jared Kushner has approached Trump about conceding. My, my, that is more credit than I would have given him. Of course, it certainly wouldn’t be one of his children.

I did not sleep well. Around 5:00 Stella's climbing brought down a huge pile of books with a nasty crash, so I have that mess to deal with today. I am relieved and surprised that the neighbor below me has not called to complain about the racket.

I am listening at the moment to Bach's cantata #147, which is the source for the famous "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring." It will be Bach cantatas for the next couple of hours, and that's my churchgoing for the week.

DR JohnG, I find L'Histoire du Soldat a major slog, and no matter what translation is used or what musicians are involved, I'd rather listen to other Stravinsky. Perhaps if I actually saw a staging I might enjoy it.
