Not in the same league, but a friend of my DH's also died - a glorious soprano, who lost mobility due to a carnival accident at 15, but nevertheless went on to have something of a career in classical music and teaching. Irene Gubrud was her name.

Here she is, singing a famous Christmas piece:

She had a lovely voice.  My condolences to your husband and her family. :(

the Exterminating Angel is back on the Met schedule for next Sunday. In the meantime, Lulu, Peter Grimes and Akhnaten are also on the schedule this week.

I saw that!  I hope to watch several...we'll see if I actually do. ::)

One of the clips that YouTube recommended based on Kritzerland was a bootleg of The Prom.

Beth Leavel is great.

That's so cool!

A little alarmed that we aren't showing up on YouTube yet - usually it pops up thirty minutes before - and Hartley's not responding to texts or e-mails.  It has popped up on Facebook, so if there's an issue go there.

I was able to watch it, though not all in order, but didn't realize there was all that comment interaction on Facebook.

When I was in Miami and trying to watch something that was streaming at the hotel business center, someone could always help me.

Chopin and more Chopin.  It's funny, every time a new piece comes on I think, "That one, too?"  Especially true of the waltzes.
