More tales from my own personal Mercury retrograde:
Yesterday the kitchen faucet, which is only a couple months ago, became much looser than it should be. It still worked, but I was worried it wouldn't much longer. I called the manager, who told me to talk to my neighbor David. David is very good at fix-it stuff, but I don't feel they should use him as a super without paying him. Anyway, I told David what the problem was and he was able to fix it, fortunately. One of the things that gripes me is that the management here is too cheap to hire a real plumber, who can often come out the same day. They will only use the el cheapo plumber, who usually can't get here for 3 or 4 days. i understand wanting to save money, but we are often without the use of basic plumbing for several days. I'm really glad when David -- or me or one of my friends -- can fix it.

I don't suppose David gets something off of his rent.

Thank you David for rescuing DR Jeanne.

No, they don't pay him at all. I sometimes pay him with a box of chocolates, which I'll do again this year.

Chocolates are a nice way to say thank you.

Jeanne did it take long for him to tighten the faucet?  I would guess it was an easy job, if you know what you are doing.

I was a homeowner for thirty years, twenty of that in a house built in 1820. I had the plumber out maybe four times in twenty years. I've lived here about ten years and have had to have a plumber out several times each year. I suspect he buys the cheapest faucets available. I used to buy mid-range faucets and they'd last easily fifteen years. To me, this is false economy. But you can't tell the management here anything. "You don't know anything" isn't stated, but it comes across loud and clear.

It isn't very smart of them.

Sausage pizza was really good, and I am the beneficiary of some really decadent cookies - the fellow in the back house has been gone for over four weeks now and will be gone until the beginning of the year.  I've been holding his mail for him.  He got a box with perishables that said "refrigerate immediately" so I let him know - he said since whatever was in it won't be good by then, to just have at it.  I've had once cookie so far, called a corn cookie - really good, kind of like a cookie cornbread flavor.  Milk is the name of the company.

In a Zoom happy hour  that’s a little late for a happy hour. But it’s fun.

Happy Birthday, Ginny!

Hope you've had a great day, with or without the cake!

Thanks, DR Jeanne.  I was pretty bummed until our video chat with Charlotte holding a sign that said “Happy Birthday, Gram.”  Then I watched “The Prom” and now I feel much better.

💜😊 Those video chats cheer me up too.  At first I would get depressed after the chat.  Fortunately I have gotten past that.

At the Louisville Costco, I saw dried blueberries, which are no longer at my Costcos. So I bought two bags. They'll never go bad.

Hell, I found a bowl of dried-out blueberries in the back of my frig.  I could have sent it to you free at cost.

I don’t know what I was dreaming but I woke Up this morning because someone was shouting about the advantages of the health care system in Canada vs the US system.

LOL.  When are you moving to Canada?

I still have one packed bag under my bed, just in case.  But it isn’t Canada’s medical that might cause me to go running for the border.

Sadly, there is that...but since not all of them wear masks to protect even themselves, they just might all be self-nominated Darwin Award Winners. ;)
