I am pleased to announce that RONALD REAGAN: MOVIE STAR, the 34th play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS collection is now available in both paperback and Kindle editions via Amazon and elsewhere.

The one-person stage play joins the actor in 1949, when he has just lost a major film role to Errol Flynn. Indeed, not much in his life seems to be going well at this time. Divorced from actress Jane Wyman, his recent romance with Patricia Neal has also taken a wrong turn after she discovered Gary Cooper.

Will there ever be a light at the end of this tunnel?

Performance rights to RONALD REAGAN: MOVIE STAR are available.

Congrats, Druxy!

Ronald Reagan was originally supposed to play opposite Ida Lupino in WOMAN IN HIDING, but a few days before filming started, he broke his leg during a baseball game.  He was replaced by Howard Duff...who later married Ida.

Watching the film last night, I figure that they must have rewritten the role for Duff, as I couldn't really see Reagan in that part.

That's interesting.  Might Ida have ended up as our first lady ;)

Congratulations on your release.

Or...she might have influenced him to not become president. ::)

Just what I want to see: a play about the dumbass president who did less for AIDS than what dumbass Trump did for Covid-19.

I was waiting on a grocery delivery, so I opened my door to wait for the delivery man ands nearly fell over a huge carton from Omaha Steaks which has become the identifying gift from my Christmas angel. I have a nicely stocked freezer now, and I am quite happy.

It is even colder today.  I think that the temps should be back to normal by Saturday.

The bad part about it being so cold is that it is too cold to visit outside.

I went for a walk today bundled up. My scarf was covering my eyes, which felt nice. But I tripped going up my walk way. :(

The Premier has added even more covid shutdowns effective Dec 25 - Jan 11th.

DR Jennifer I am sorry it is too cold for you to visit outside.  Did you wear sunglasses?  I find that works better than a scarf over my eyes ;)    I hope you didn't hurt yourself.

We just had a nice long Zoom chat with Keith's cousin.  She is his only living cousin on that side of the family and he is almost her only living cousin.  Almost as Keith does have a brother but she doesn't see him.

I just responded to a question on FB designed bring back childhood memories.  The question is "Do you remember when doctors made house calls?"

I remember all too well and am very glad Bryan has chosen a job with set hours.

My father was the GP who made house calls. I remember hearing the phone ring in the middle of the night and then my father leaving. Whenever I watch an old movie or tv show I am reminded of family dinners at restaurants when the phone was delivered to the table. We would all wait quietly while my father talked to a patient, hoping he would not have to leave.

We had house calls from my earliest memories of them (at age 5 or so, when we'd moved into our first new house in Whitehall, Ohio) through my junior high and high school years in Florida. So, from about 1955 through 1967 for me. Both doctors were wonderful. House calls made by the latter one might not have been as frequent, but if I was really down with something and was too miserable to be taken to his office, he'd come on out.

I have no idea how long house calls lasted once I'd gone away to school in 1967.

Our family was the earlier doctor's first set of patients, because he'd opened his office in that new housing development just as we moved in. He eventually began making us his last stop in the evening because my parents would have a pot of coffee ready and he appreciated being able to sit and talk for a while afterwards.

Between 1956 and 1963 or so we lived around the corner from our family physician and his son was one of our regular playmates. We occasionally went on housecalls with the doctor and waited for him in his car.

Barnum is complaining.  It has been dark for ONE HOUR and the lights are still on and I am still working at the computer.

This is heresy.

Picked up a couple of packages, had some hand-carved beef slices from Gelson's - only about three ounces - and a Caesar salad - leaves me some calories for later.

George, your package is on its way - she ended up putting your more recent order in the wrong folder, got confused when she shipped that one several days ago, but it's all straightened out now.

That is a nice story of your family sharing coffee and a visit with the doctor.  I have no idea if my father ever did that with patients.  I know he often returned home with treats though some of those may have been his payment.

Interesting.  I never went on house calls with my father.  I did go to hospitals and nursing homes with him.  I wish he had taken me inside the nursing homes to visit.  They depressed him so much he made me wait in the car.

At the hospitals I usually waited in the lobby, waiting area.  That is where I once watched him deliver the sad news to a family of a death.  It is actually a cherished memory watching the compassion and comfort my father gave the family, and how much they appreciated him.

Then there was the time he intentionally took me to the hospital with him to visit a patient that was my age.  She had broken her leg riding her horse.  He left me to visit with her while he did his rounds.

My father never went riding.  We did that with my mother.  I think he also wanted me to understand the dangers of riding ;D
