It was another weird day at work. We had our employee meeting where the bonus range was announced. In previous years, it could have been up to 18 % or so of your salary. Well, not this year. It was only 10.1%, and people who consider their bonus to be a God-given right were furious. Plus, regardless of the bonus, folks under $100,000 will get an additional $1,000 bonus.
Yet, the first question from an employee was whether leadership thought it was fair that we were being "penalized" because of things out of our control, including fines levied against actions made eight years ago. The person went on to say that, given the pandemic, we should get a full bonus because that was also beyond our control.
The CEO reminded people that we're a team and share in the good and the bad.
