Good Afternoon!
The local, production of
Seussical that I saw this morning - 10:15AM curtain(?!?!?) - was wonderful. They really pulled out all the stops in regards to the set, costumes and lighting. The pit was great. And, best of all, and most importantly the cast was great! It was comprised of a bunch of the "Richmond All-Stars" as well as some wonderful new faces and voices.
I ended up with a seat in the front row. Center. It was a student matinee so the rest of the theatre was full, but they were able to squeeze me in. It was nice being that close to the action and the actors. Lots of friends on that stage.
And, yes, I cried. A few times. Yes, the book is a mess in places, but the score has some wonderful moments. *And as someone pointed out to me afterwards, it's strangely absent of an extended solo ballad for one character, any character. But I found myself tearing up a few times during the show - as well as a few times after the show...
...It's all begun to sink in. I'm leaving Richmond. My home (on and off) for the past 19 years(!) will no longer be my home. But in my heart...
-At least it's a "good sad".
