TOD:

I used to see a lot of performances of Indianapolis Ballet Theatre - and I enjoyed them. There is also - or was - no it's still around, I think.....and professional company named Dance Kaleidoscope that did some very nice things.

Then one day a friend took me to see the Houston Ballet do SWAN LAKE at Indiana University.....and I realized I hadn't really SEEN real ballet....so that's my favorite.

My favorite moment was when the white swan was tippy toeing across the stage and fell down..... A member of the ensemble, gentleman that he was.....a couple of minutes later walked to the spot where she had fallen, bent down, picked something up off the floor, examined it. and tossed it into the pit....

I covered New York City Ballet’s summer residence in Saratoga when I lived in Catskill. Balanchine’s works quickly became my favorite, with the best being Jewels, which I saw on the last night that Patricia McBride and Suzanne Ferrell danced the parts created for them.

I just put in 50 minutes of pulling and cutting and dumping things, and because it's about 70 degrees out there and sunny, I'm sweating like a pig. Or more of a pig than I usually sweat like. Man, 70 degrees and sunny feels like SUMMER.

Ever since I saw the movie version of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, I've modified the expression and say "sweating like a horse."

It's sad enough that she died when she was only 47 years old, but what's really sad is, "She was preceded in death by two infant children."
