Topic of the Day: not really a fan of Cajun food. I have had a Cajun Flounder Sandwich from Popeye's, and it was actually pretty good. I know it's not "real" Cajun food...which is probably why I liked it.

DR JohnG, I'm glad you enjoyed Norma, an opera of which I have managed to snooze through two performances. The score has glorious moments, but it's such a bore to watch.

Last night I watched another production of the ballet I watched the night before, Frederick Ashton's hilarious full-length rendition of Herold's 18th century ballet, La Fille mal gardée, with a score tarted up wonderfully by the late Royal Ballet conductor John Lanchberry, who was married to a Royal Ballet star, Elaine Fifield.

In the 1980s Kultur released a performance of the ballet from the 1970s with Leslie Collier and Michael Coleman, conducted by Lanchberry. The DVD could use some cleanup, but it remains my favorite performance of the three I've seen. I watched this on Sunday night before the Kritzerland show.

Last night I watched the latest Blu-Ray with Royal Ballet star Steven McRae, which is quite good, only it's too dark. So many funny moments are lost because you cannot see what's going on, like the end of the storm that closes Act One. Frederick Ashton would have fired the current lighting designer at Covent Garden. The dancing's great, but I'm sticking with the adorable Collier and Coleman.

I probably haven't really had much in the way of authentic Cajun dishes, so much as food that's been seasoned with the ubiquitous Cajun spices and flavorings and gets called Cajun. If that makes any sense.

I love New Orleans and many other Southern foods, but except for those ubiquitous spices and flavorings, how many of those wonderful dishes have been authentic Cajun? I have no idea. BK's catfish meal sounds great. I'm sure I'd like that and many other things.

Disclaimer: I've never been attracted to crawfish and the handling/picking apart of them, so I've never been one to participate in the eating orgies of such things. I know that's one major component of good N.O./Cajun eating that I've been missing.

Just got news from my sister in Germany that her best friend died last night from cancer. Very upsetting for Brigitte, because she wasn’t able to spend any time with her because of covid restrictions.

I met Angi on several trips over there, spent quite a bit of time with her Christmas two years ago. She was good people.

There is a locally famous Cajum restaurant in my town called Zydeco's.

My friend former DR KURT - who now lives in New Orleans - took me there a couple of times.

He always asked: "Are the crawfish fresh?"

I don't remember much - but they do have good biscuits.
