In the how did I miss this department, Sony has release a 120 CD set of Eugene Ormandy - The Columbia Legacy. These are only his mono recordings through 1957. One can only hope that they do the stereo years, too, because so many of those need remastering, but this is incredible and, of course, finally, at long last, includes Ormandy doing The Moldau, the first classical music I ever heard - his performance - and the first classical album I ever purchased (well, my parents purchased it because I wouldn't shut up about it). This has never been on CD (the bulk of this set has never been on CD) and you can't even find it online anywhere. But this will also include much great American music and a couple of Sibelius symphonies that are brilliantly performed, all remastered. Some people got it the week it came out, April 7th and must have got all the copies because Amazon won't have it back until May 5.
