And with that I shall toddle off to the bedroom environment for as much beauty sleep as I can get.  I'll post just before I'm on my way.

MBARNUM - what exactly did Van Williams say about Marguerite Sierra?  Enquiring minds want to know.

I have a couple of coffee table books about Frank Lloyd Wright that are very nice.

I also have always liked Martin Gottfried's BROADWAY MUSICALS with A CHORUS LINE on the dust jacket.

Good Morning!

Safe travels, BK.

And, hopefully, the rainy forecast won't delay your flights.  Nor put a damper on your visit.

As for coffee table books...

A couple of Van Gogh collections.
Assorted theatre/show books, but my favorites have to be the ones for Rent, The Lion King and The Producers.
"The Complete Lyrics of Cole Porter"

And a couple of other ones that aren't coming to mind right now..

BK- If you read this before you leave, definitely NOT hot here right now. Rather chilly 47 degrees as I type this, so bring a good jacket that can be worn in rain, which is expected in the evening.

Also, if you could bring me in a vacuum-sealed container, one double double from In-N Out and some Shakey's mojo potatoes, that would be swell.

A dipped cone from Foster's Freeze might be a little trickier, but see what you can do. A wee cooler and some ice cubes maybe? You can probably use your charm and get the flight attendants to store it in their freezer for the flight.

Sorry for the late notice on this.

Good morning, all!  I slept through most of the night; it must have been all that fantastic Artie's food.  Today, I plan on making my first sojourn from the apartment down to the recording office.  Then, tonight I'l be out with my dear dfreidn BK and DRs Ben and Rodzinski, along with whoever shows up at Joe Allen's.  Nurse Jane, I promise to not overdo the day, and I'm taking money for emergency taxi home, if needed.

Coffee table books:
  BROADWAY MUSICALS by Martin Gottfried
My friend Robert Kimball's books on the complete lyrics of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Frank Loesser, Lorenz Hart, and Ira Gershwin
  Ethan Mordden's RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN
RING BELLS! SING SONGS! MUSICALS OF THE 30s by my late friend Stanley Green

Today's a work Saturday for me, so I'm here early.

Favorite coffee table books:

Broadway Musicals, by Martin Gottfreid
Thou Swell, Thou Witty: The Life and Lyrics of Lorenz Hart, by Dorothy Hart - this was a gift from DR elmore and has a lovely inscription dated May 3, 1979
The Best Remaining Seats: The Golden Age of the Movie Palace, by Ben M. Hall
Treasures of the Library of Congress, by Charles Goodrum
My complete Eloise collection, including the first book autographed by Kay Thompson

Off to work...

I seem to have many of the Broadway books others have.  I have a wonderful book on Georgia O'keef's flower paintings.  The book is so large, though, that it doesn't fit on any bookshelf or coffee table.  Books on the Normandie, American Impressionists and David Selznick are among other favorites.

Have a lovely trip to New York.  Kiss all our East Coasters: Ben, Ant, Rod, Larry, William, and all of you wonderful people never sleeping in the city that never sleeps (hence the city's name).

Good morning all!

I know I'm late but safe travels to our Dear BK!

DR Elmore, I would add to Nurse Janes instructions--Please try to lay down and take a nap this afternoon before the nights excitment.  Don't stay out to late and be sure to dress warm.  Don't catch a chill.  You need your strength to recover from your surgery.  You can't fight a cold at the same time.

Hope Guys Night Out is a fun one for everyone!

Ginny, I hope you can come in October!  Penny, you as well!  It will be a wonderful time!

DR MBarnum, I just read an article in VARIETY that dealt with your adored Bollywood.

Seems like the Indian film industry has discovered colorization, and they've embraced it in a BIG way. They are taking black and white classics (can't name them, don't know a thing about Bollywood) and colorizing them and releasing the new versions to theaters where they are doing excellent business.

The film executive explained (which sounded very similar to Ted Turner's comments decades ago) that the young film audience of India would NEVER sit still for a black and white movie nowadays.

Marty and Buster were raising a ruckus, barking at something, so I went to take a look.  In the lot next door, where everything has been cleared so the rain can erode all the dirt away, was a fox!  He (or she) was a coppery red, with a long coppery red tail.

Of course, the moment I called to der B to come take a look, he (or she) scooted into the woods next to the crick.

THAT'S the sort of thing you don't see in the city!

I'm going to see the new Star Wars movie today.  I hope I don't get to bad of a headache this time.  The last SW was so LOUD.  Another reason I would rather watch a DVD at home where I can control the volume.

I must be getting old.  There was a time when I would have told them to crank it up even more!

The same with roller coasters.   I used to love them but now..... We have a new one, Sheikra, that opened at Bush Gardens yesterday.  I don't know if I could handle it or not.
