Good Morning!  Stopped in to say HI and see that DR Ron Pulliam has made an appearance and that made me happy.  Good to "see" you DR Ron and my condolences to you and your family.  I actually stopped in to read BK's notes about Stephen Sondheim as I missed them on Facebook yesterday.  Well, I SAW them, but I was in a hurry and didn't get to read them and I knew they'd be up here today.  I must say, though, DR. Larry's "Sunday" story always makes me cry.

Everything is fine around these parts.  Thanksgiving with the entire family was such a treat.  I have 4 nephews all about the same age (3-6) and to see them play and make noise was such a treat.

I've been playing shows again.  I did 2 ...Spelling Bee's, a Mamma Mia and will do a White Christmas in a week or so.  Nice to be back playing with other musicians.

DD Leo is doing well.

Back from some pasta papa at Hugo's and driving around, picking up yesterday's screeners, which include two movies I have no interest in - Annette and Coming to America 2 - I watched the first thirty minutes of Annette and found it to be terrible, even though there are those who proclaim it a visionary masterpiece and the film of the year.

I called and cancelled my night out. I'm not moving well today, and I don't relish being out on the street with a walker in freezing weather after dark. I'm sorry I turned down the invitation to what I know will be a festive evening.

I've been watching Mare of Easttown. Kate Winslet is amazing, but it's awfully dark and murky, and I swear half of the men look alike.

I see a lot of people got these typed notes before the internet, which I've assumed were typed by Mr. Sondheim's assistant, but there's been speculation that he typed them himself.  (Does anyone know?)

I liked that he tried when he could to give a reason for not coming to a show.  Also I liked the line the his reason was "flying to California for my sins." :)

[The file was too big so I linked to a jpg of the letter here.]

This one was 1994, and he signed it "Steve" -  but in 1993, he'd used the formal signature "Stephen Sondheim."

It is 3:40 p.m.  And what have I done with today?

Well, I went to the post office to get my mail.  I was feeling peckish, but found my favorite lunch spot on Saturdays was closed for the entire weekend. I went to my second favorite lunch spot and discovered it, too, has been closed since Wednesday night and will not reopen until Monday.

Well, I thought...there is always "the club".  It's a drive, but it's good food.  I called and ordered a cheeseburger all the way and some French fried onion rings.

That was the ticket.

I sat in my chair in the den after I ate and watched "David Copperfield" for the umpteenth time.  And then I fell asleep.

Ah, well.

After two episodes and despite the presence of Cloris Leachman, I have given up on American Gods.

We haven't watched it yet.  It is interesting to know you gave up on it after all the recommendations we have had to watch it.  I like the book very much, read one more in the series and stopped.

Would someone kindly refresh my memory over what images can be posted here.  Are photobucket images all right, and if so, what should be eliminated from the url?

I seem to recall that Photobucket images worked, once upon a time, but I'm afraid I'm hazy on the mechanics of it. DR George would know the answer to your question. I usually just add photos as an attachment using the button below.

ChasSmith mentioned his personal friend, Robin de Jesus, recently. I first saw Robin in the movie Camp. He played a theater geek who had a photo of Sondheim on his dresser. His roommate, more of a jock, asked him if that were a picture of his dad.

Later in the movie, Sondheim himself showed up to the camp. Fun scene in a movie I always enjoy watching.

This is from The Washington Post about how much Sondheim hated his mother b

As an adult, he acknowledged a gift from his friend Mary Rodgers by writing back: “Thanks for the plate, but where was my mother’s head? Love, Steve.”

The one Sondheim show that I've actually been in so it holds a special place in my theater heart:
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (I played Hero)

Is there video anywhere?  That must have been fun.

There actually is...somewhere.

My mother comforted the only grandchild still speaking to her by bitterly and loudly  complaining that her oven was destroyed and that it would cost thousands of dollars and take months to replace and that all the rooms in the house would have to be repainted and the furniture would all smell like smoke forever and have to be thrown out

:(  Is this why the Vixter is the only grandchild still speaking to her?

Yep, she’s alienated the other three

Quite a few years ago when the website photo uploaded kept filling up and BK had to regularly delete earlier photos, I created a Photobucket account and gave the passwords to anyone who wanted it.  Vixmom used it quite a bit. ;) But a few years ago, they changed their policy and wouldn't allow hot-linking of photos anymore, so we couldn't use it to post pictures.  They are all still there, though.

If you subscribe to a certain level of their paid accounts, you can hot-link photos.

So, for a while I've been paying the basic minimum to keep the photos saved because there are too many to keep in the free account.  This minimum level account allows the storage, but not hot-linking.

I keep forgetting to post this, but now that I'm reminded...if anyone who has uploaded photos to the HHW Photobucket account (like Vixmom) would like to log in and download and save them to your own computers so that I can delete the account, that would be a good thing.

Let me know if you think you uploaded pictures but don't remember the login, and I can send it to you.  Then when they're all saved on the computers of the people who uploaded them, the account can be deleted. :)
