This is from The Washington Post about how much Sondheim hated his mother b

As an adult, he acknowledged a gift from his friend Mary Rodgers by writing back: “Thanks for the plate, but where was my mother’s head? Love, Steve.”

He was, as an adult, terrified of her.  I had gone over to his house one day, and when I went upstairs to the office,  I noticed him crouched under the stairs with his hands over his ears while Patricia spoke to a lady onthe phone . . .  No, dear, he's out . . . Yes, i'll have him call you . . . Yes, yes . . .

During this, Patricia motioned for me to sit. I never asked who it was, but when Steve came into the office, Patricia said, Your mother wants you to call.

Thank you to the internet and quick access to my medical tests.

Though I feared I had it, I do not have the family curse.  NO CANCER!

A couple of other, non-urgent, things showed up that might be adding to my increased pain.

I keep forgetting to post this, but now that I'm reminded...if anyone who has uploaded photos to the HHW Photobucket account (like Vixmom) would like to log in and download and save them to your own computers so that I can delete the account, that would be a good thing.

I don't remember.

I am browsing the photos.  There is a nice one of Tom, George, and me at Hawks I can't seem to find a copy in my files.  George it must have been on your camera.

Ron, we reconfigured things here, so most photos can be posted directly without going through a service.

I'm getting ready for dinner tonight. It's the first time I've worn a tie in who knows how long. But it's that kind of place.

That was a really old photo, Jane. The recipe for cherpumples calls for cream cheese frosting, but it was soooo overly sweet. I frost it with lightly sweetened whipped cream now.

I meant that I don't pipe frosting. I'll spread it on with a knife.

But usually I make a bundt cake and spoon a glaze over it. Much easier.
