Well, you've read the notes, the notes were proofed but had no pudding, and now it is time for you to post until the proofed cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  yesterday, I received from Barnes & Noble, Broadway by Day by Spencer Day (I'd never heard of him before); and the 1981 Smithsonian Production "Complete recording of the score" to Rose-Marie, featuring Larry's former best friend.

DR George, unlike the Naughty Marietta release, Rose-Marie is complete, I love the score, its not too badly performed and conducted, but the script is completely ridiculous mess, which we mercifully do not have to deal with.

I slept well although the apartment was cold enough to hang meat in. "Make a Miracle," from Where's Charley? was the tune I could not shake all night.

DR JohnG, I had no idea the poster was so large. The framing looks great.

DR Jeanne, it's one thing for the doctor's office to screw up a prescription, but when the pharmacy receives it and doesn't fill it, I think it's time to find a new pharmacy.

This morning, for no particular reason that is ascertainable to me, I started in on Strauss's Elektra. So far, a lot of shrieking.

But it is not an opera that I had previously been familiar with.

Very weird and vivid dream. I was in war-torn Macedonia to attend the premiere of a children’s ballet based on a piece of music about the sunrise. I had suggested the music, so I had been invited to the premiere. The shelling was severe and it was looking dubious that the premiere would happen. But the folks wouldn’t call it off. Instead they complained their war just wasn’t getting the publicity that Ukraine was.

It’s not a happy piece, certainly not bouncy or peppy. More mourning than morning.

Kitty cleanup had a new chore this morning: kibble vacuum, and now the floor around their dry food dishes is very clean.

Tonight, Ann and Jen fly off to Bologna and Milan for two weeks. They deserve a nice break, and I hope everything goes well. I will miss them enormously, bur I will survive.

It has a picture of every cast up to that point plus their names are all down the side, all the way down to Karen Ziemba. So, it is a toast to all of the lines.

I was intrigued to read that DRJohn G is going to Greece in October.  I am very jealous.

I lived in Greece for six months in the year 1975.  I was actually assigned to Greece to work in the Armed Forces Radio Station at the fomer Hellenikon Air Force Base (which was alongside the international airport south of the city now called Ellenikon Airport).

However, a little incident in Cyprus between the Greeks and Turks...and the non-involvement of NATO (which should have gotten involved per its charter) ticked the Greeks off.  They asked the Navy to remove itself from the port of Elefsis where we had six ships homeported.  My job was to have been at the Air Force-controlled radio station as a representative of the Navy supporting the Navy community.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellenikon_Air_Base

Ah, well.  I had six wonderful months in Athens, and I took every opportunity to explore the city.  I had an apartment in the community of Voula, also south of the city, but very near the air base where I was to have worked.

And since you were all wondering...

Here we wait for yet another storm -- which, very fortunately, we are only supposed to get the rainy (maybe a little m*x) side of tomorrow. I must needs, sadly, join the panic shoppers today for the half dozen or so things I need.

I think the only contribution I can make to the TOD is that I watched the film version of Chicago for what I believe is only my third time -- I mean, to sit and really pay attention to it. I enjoyed it much more than I had previously.

Thankee, kindly.

It is another very GRAY day here in Johnston.  I'm telling you, it's getting very tiresome having all these gray rainy days in a row.

If we have drought this summer, I shall no doubt rue making statements like the one above, but the psyche can only take so much.

I need some sunshine.  Some brightness.  Some light in blue skies.
