Up from a nap with the heating pad on my sore arm.

I'm still waiting for my nap.

I'm really enjoying my friend David's new autobiography. He's a wonderful storyteller.

He is, and I am enjoying it, too. I think he's a better writer than Paul Ford. Or at least, better edited.

I'd like to have a house with a library. Wouldn't you?

My house is a library. Only I can’t find what I need.

Got some of my olive tree trimmed back from what froze last year. I have a lot left to do, but I filled my green barrel, which gets picked up Monday.

I have the pdf of Paul's original million page unedited tome.

Well, that Pacific Northwest Ballet project appears to be mine, but I'll be much happier when a contract shows up.

Congrats, Larry!

Mine chili

At first glance, I thought I read "Mein chili"...like what would be served at the Kit Kat Klub. ;)

I shall shortly be on my way to perhaps have a little salad and conversation, and then I'll mosey on over to the theater around six-thirty

My home sale story:

When I put my beloved Old Town Alexandria home up for sale, my realtor, a bright woman who I respected, recommended that I list it at the price I wanted to receive -- no higher -- and let it get bid up. I objected. The market had plunged a year before and was still iffy, even for prime real estate, which this was. My strategy was to price it 10% higher, and be prepared to sell at my desired price. She didn't agree, but I found her approach too risky and prevailed. As it turned out, the buyers were both tax attorneys who didn't believe in overpaying for anything, and one of whom seemed to think he was pretty smart, despite being a first-time buyer and making some obvious mistakes. They offered me 10% less than asking price, plus a couple conditions. I accepted, but could have done without his demands, which would have been met anyway. I felt like telling him that there's no need to go into attack mode -- just communicate your needs and we'll try to oblige. Perhaps he felt he needed to show us how smart he was. I was glad I stuck to my original approach; there were no other offers.

BTW, that house had a small, paneled library. One wall was floor-to-ceiling bookcases, with cabinets below. It still wasn't enough for all my books, but a really charming room.

I would, indeed!  One just about that size, too.

It is also my bedtime, but I wanted to let you know that I participated in a three-hour Zoom symposium this afternoon on "The Music of Miklos Rozsa".

There were amazing panelists, including Rozsa's daughter Juliet and granddaughter Nicchi.   Leslie Zador, the son of Rozsa's primary orchestrator, Eugene Zador, was a participant.  Also, Jeff Atmajian and Daniel Robbins were panelists, as was Gayle Levant, the president of the organization known as ASMAC - the American Society of Music Arrangers and Conductors.  Another ASMAC official moderated.  About 160 people were in attendance.

It was quite an interesting, informative (about things of which I was unaware, that is) and entertaining three hours.

The passion of the panelists was quite thrilling.  Samples of Rozsa's work were played and there were photos of Rozsa through the years.  Quite a bit of time was spent in a discussion of Rozsa's magnum opus "Ben-Hur" (1959) for which he won his third Oscar.

My dance teacher, Joy, studied massage and she stood on it at the right spot. It worked while we danced. I had no problems with my back.

When I tried getting into the car later, the back started acting up again.
